I saw the movie 'Ever After: A Cinderella story' and thought to myself this had to be one of the best portrayals of the Cinderella story since the original Disney cartoon adaptation of Cinderella.
Then ''Cinderella III: A twist in time" came out. It seemed like there was a connection between those two movies.
One stepsister was a bitch to Cinderella while the other was trying to find love and cared more about her feeling and Cinderella's then following her evil mother and sisters footsteps.
In Ever After, Jacqueline plays the kind, gentle though timid and scared to stand up to her evil sister and mother.
She cares about Danielle and knew all along that she was the true Cinderella. She, along with a few of the house maids, hid the secret until it was revealed during a mask ball. The Bareness (played by the talented Angelica Houston) revealed that Cinderella was nothing but a servant. Feeling he was born to privilege, the prince threw her out of the mask ball, she ends up being sold, and he ends up saving her.
Jacqueline eventually tells the truth to the King and Queen, revealing her mother and sister lied and eventually they get their just deserts by working for the new queen, Danielle.
In Cinderella, it's a little different. There are two evil step sisters in the beginning. Drizilla and Anastasia.
They were both rude, nasty and treated Cinderella like garbage, ripping her gown in pieces and Cinderella gets help from a fairy godmother and well.... we all know what happens.
In the sequel "A Twist in time" it seems Anastasia becomes kinder, only wanting one thing, love. But her evil mother wants to rule the palace. They find the fairly godmother's wand and change the cores of history, when the slipper fit Anastasia. Deep down, she doesn't know if it feels right, but the prince is hypnotized and he only thinks he loves Anastasia.
By the end, he realizes who Cinderella really is, but Lady Tremaine has one evil trick up her sleeve. Making Anastasia look like Cinderella, eventually, Cinderella returns when Anastasia that she doesn't want to marry the prince. She wanted to love somebody for who she was.
We all need a happily ever after in our lives and how we can find it, not just by dreaming but by achieving it. And with the help of a bitchy step-sister turned nice, or a fairy godmother, we know there is a spark in all of us wanting something good to happen in our life. Love, confidence what not. It's all there and knowing these movies have one good and one evil step sister might make a reason why I like these Cinderella movies more than others. Ciao Bloggers, and find your happily ever after.
