Seinfeld....insensitive?

It's almost been over 25 years since the series finale of Seinfeld was on. Although it wasn't a strong way to end the series, it was ok. But looking back at it now... people started to realize how insensitive the show is.

Well...it was made in the 90's and people didn't really care back then about who's feelings would get hurt. Now....a few of these of these episodes I still watch but I start to cringe a little when watching it.

In one episode in the 4th season, it seems a news story comes out that says Jerry and his friend George are a gay couple. The phrase "Not that there's anything wrong with that." became a popular saying to people who reveal themselves coming out of the closet. Before being LGTBQ+ was ok, back then....it was taboo and sort of frowned upon in some states. Even though this story is not true to both Jerry and George, the writers broke the mold for people to come out as they are.

Another episode the same season was called "the shoes' where George stares at the NBC executive daughter's cleavage while going over their show. Seeing that now...well, it might make some people uncomfortable. It's back to the days where Hotters was the place to go to if you want to see cleavage as well as eat wings. Elaine decides to intense the executive by showing her cleavage and well...later in the season it drove him insane that he left NBC and joined the peace core.

Jerry dates a Chinese woman.... or so he thinks. He eventually finds out she is Caucasian and seems displeased.

Back then we thought of this a good episode. Looking back at it now.... well, some people might find this episode offensive. Since George's parents were on the verge of divorce and George's mom was getting advice from Jerry's girlfriend who she confuses with an actual Chianese woman. It perseveres to a divorce and Jerry breaking up with her. BTW: her name was Donna Shang.

Looking back at this episode, many people cringe. This episode is called "The Cigar Store Indian." Back then, this episode was funny, now a lot of people try to cancel the hate that had been spreading that involves the Native American culture.

Jerry decides to buy a present for Elaine as an 'I'm Sorry' gift so he can impress one of Elaine's friends. However....not knowing her friend is a Native American, Jerry tries not to walk on eggshells all over her. Seeing this now.... it doesn't seem like an episode fans are proud to watch.

In an episode called 'The Beard', Elaine tries to be a beard for a man who is handsome, but gay. She tries to convert him as best as she can but.... nothing. Back then, this episode wasn't focused much on Elaine's story as it was Jerry dating a police officer and George wearing a toupee so he can get dates.

It doesn't work for him either. This episode is a hit and miss. I guess it would upset a few people, mostly anyone that is in the LGTBQ+.

Jerry dates a girl who has an interesting talent. Well to him maybe. He mocks her stomach when she sleeps in, and he decides to make a voice out of it. Making fun of someone (even if they aren't overweight) doesn't sit well with a few people.

He had to choose between her and the voice after he tells her the truth. Which one did you think he picked? Back then... this episode was funny. Now.... you just gotta be careful what you say.

This episode almost got the show banned and the crew had to make a formal apology to the people of Puerto Rico. It was the one where they have a parade in NYC. They are stuck in traffic and almost all of them go their separate ways.

Elaine tries to find a way to get home, George tries to find whoever is using a laser pen to make fun of him but the worst of all...was Krammer. He has a little too much fun ending up burning the Puerto Rican flag. Having it burned was the last straw, even Krammer stomping on it upset Puerto Rico.

They still play the episode, but it feels as if it was the episode that was the straw that broke the Camel's back. The camel named Puerto Rico. They banned that episode there.

It's hard to watch Seinfeld sometimes. Even though it was a hit in the 90's looking at it now.... it's somewhat disturbing. Even Michael Richards blew his career after what he said at his stand up.

Does it mean we should stop watching Seinfeld??? Hell no. I still enjoy it. Yes, I'll cringe in a few episodes, but it's just a comedy show and that's all it'll be.

The beginning of spring- POEM

It's here,

the sun is shining,

the warmth,

is coming,

and soon,

winter will,

be,

gone

Easter arrives,

as well,

as the sun,

and the rain,

the rains,

of April,

and May

the rain and the sun,

the activities,

bike riding,

gardening,

playing,

and enjoying the sun

With great season,

comes greater allergies,

the spring,

gives us pollen,

from the trees,

that bloom,

to the flowers,

in the ground

The beauty of nature,

from any season,

why is spring,

the prettiest,

of them all,

flowers,

rain,

sun,

trees

The rabbit,

that gives us,

baskets of goodies,

every Easter Sunday,

the showing,

that spring,

is not here for long.

Summer will soon,

consume,

the sun,

which gave us warmth,

to give us heat,

as the sun,

and the rain,

don't go away,

but the feeling,

dies within us

spring,

is a confusing season,

it gives us warmth,

while it shows,

it isn't here,

for long,

enjoy Spring,

before it's too late,

it soon will be

Kleenex Vs Puffs

There're the cola wars, the pizza wars, the video game wars, the fast-food wars.... but have you ever heard of something called 'The tissue wars?" Is this real? Well, a lot of people would think one tissue brand is better than the other. Those two brands are Kleenex and Puffs. Which came first, which is more superior, and which one do I like to use?

Let's start with.... Kleenex

Kleenex started out around the end of WWI when GI soldiers developed crepe paper to use as a gas mask.

Might not have worked to their advantage, but a new tissue was born. They modified the so-called 'gas masks' with Kotex pads as well.

After WWII ended, most of America would say the word 'Kleenex' when they want a tissue. They had different brands and would be created to remove make up from your face before you went to sleep.

By the early 2000's Kleenex started making Anti-Viral tissues to prevent another cause of flu or clods. It seemed to skyrocket during the pandemic and even today...

Kleenex is still around today. Not only creating new ways to make their tissues not only softer but even can be available to kill germs with one blow of the nose. But it doesn't mean it's considered the number one tissues, but it holds history of how it was created and why the brand is popular today as it was during WWI.

Puffs tissues is its own brand. A wannabe 'Kleenex' some say. But when did it start showing up, and was it trying to one-up Kleenex? To me, I don't think it is. However, I think Puffs tissues might be softer than its competitor.

Puffs, like Kleenex, have different verities, but unlike Kleenex, Puffs is considered a tissue that is softer than any other brand. In their ads...they show the person feeling as if the tissues they are using were hurting their nose. When they try Puffs, they feel a cushiony pillow of softness comfort their nose.

Unlike Kleenex, Puffs doesn't have many germ-killing brands that could stop the cold or flu from coming around.

Not only do these two tissue brands fight battle over their softness as well as keeping germs on the tissue, but it could be price as well. Both tissues can be pricy, and another competitor would use a cheap brand of tissue and lower the price. But does that mean lower price is the best way to go?

Both tissue brands have their history in how they were started. While Proctor and Gamble owns Puffs Kimberly & Clark is responsible for how Kleenex was created. Now... is there really such a thing as a tissue war?

Maybe, maybe not, but there are other brands out there besides both Kleenex and Puffs. White cloud is another brand of toiletry accessories. They have not only toilet and paper towels, but tissues as well. Scott, which is more a toiletry accessory, also has their own brand of tissues. Are they the best? Well.... not like Puffs or Kleenex great. They are there when needed, but they don't give you a soothing relief like both others do.

But if I had to choose a favorite brand of tissue. Puffs would be the clear winner. Why? Well, with my sensitive skin, I feel it's best to pick a tissue that would ease my sore nose. It doesn't mean Kleenex isn't bad, but if it comes down to softness, Puffs wins. But it doesn't mean I'll will get a Kleenex tissue now and then.

St. Patrick's Day- Poem

Luck of the Irish,

they say,

on the seventeenth of March,

everyone,

goes green,

Everyone,

celebrates,

St. Patrick's Day,

enjoying the festivities,

as well as drinking beer,

throughout the day

The feast,

at dinner,

corned beef and cabbage,

some love it,

some despise it,

but it's one dish,

served,

in an Irish household

Ireland,

and Northern Ireland (there is a difference),

come together,

to drink,

have parades,

and celebrate their heritage,

Movies,

that involve Ireland,

are a few,

from the horror movie,

Leprechaun,

to Waking Ned Devine,

there aren't many,

that involve around,

St. Patrick's Day

Most of America,

and some parts of Europe,

take the day to celebrate,

and if you're Scottish,

like I am,

celebrate....

or don't

Everyone feels Irish,

on the 17th of March,

no matter where you roam,

from the USA,

to the Virgin islands,

or anywhere else,

wear green,

get drunk,

have fun

Even people born,

on St. Patrick's day,

feel luckier,

than anyone else,

while others,

have to find it,

they,

already have it,

Have a wonderful,

and happy,

St. Patrick's Day,

no matter,

where you're from

The best Price Is Right games

When I was in ninth grade, I started getting sick. I had to stay home from school for a long time. That's when I started getting hooked on a game show that had been on the air for almost 50 years. Bob Barker was the original host of the game show before he decided to retire.

Drew Carey took over and is still hosting today. The games.... are what I want to talk about. They have these interesting games they had.

I won't talk about all the games, but people that are fans of this show would kill me if I didn't mention the best ones. And I know what games they're talking about. Here are a few games that are ok.... but not the best.

Balance Game:

This game is ok. A game where a contestant can win a trip or even a bedroom/kitchen whatever if they get the right price from another bag that one of the models has in their hands. Sometimes, they are in balance, and they win. Other times...it would be less than the price or too high which would lower the balance.

Check Out Game:

Being a Cashier, some of the games are good for me because they use grocery store items, and the contestant has to figure out what is the right price. They guess a price at random, soon, they see the real price. If they aren't over the $2.00 amount, they win. Other times, they're behind and lose. but they have to get within a two-dollar range to win.

Prices these days are soaring, and now let's just say back before 2003, they would make the price range of $1.00.

Hot Seat Game:

This game is new and came out before COVID did. It's called Hot Seat where a contestant has to pick if five items are higher or lower than the price shown. They would end up winning over $20,000 dollars if they were right on all five picks.

Sometimes, they would lose all the money if they run out of time, or one of the hot seat items they picked was the opposite on price.

Hole in One (or Two) game

Ever gone miniature golfing in your life? Well....then you might be able to win a car if you get a hole on one on Price is Right.

All you have to do is guess which price is more expensive than the others. Then, wherever you end up with after finding out you were wrong on one price, is the line you end up putting. Drew (as well as Bob) sometimes does the explanation of how it's done. It's a 50/50 win for certain contestants.

The Golden Road Game:

Do you want to win an expensive car? Well....the Golden Road will take you there. Almost everyone loves this game because the price of the car is more expensive than any of the cars they show. Sometimes, it could be worth over $250,000.

They have to walk the golden road, finding out prices for other items to get to the most expensive car. Sometimes...they win it.... other times.... they don't.

HAVE TO MENTION GAMES:

Cliffhangers Game:

This game is very popular to Price is Right lovers. This game was created around the late 1970's and has been one of the top ten best games played on PIR. A little yodeling guy that I dubbed "yodel dude", would climb up the tall mountain if you are wrong on guessing three prices.

You can either win the game or hear a yodel of the "yodel dude" going up the mountain and falling and losing the game. Someone dubbed him "Cliffy" but he's always known as yodel dude to me.

Lucky Seven Game:

Another chance to win a free car. All you had to do is guess the price of the car while keeping seven dollars in your hand.

The price of the car was different back in the 70's. They had four slots. Now....five slots to figure out the price of the car. Most of the time....the contestant will win the game with one dollar left in their hand. Rare, but it happens.

Race Game:

This is a game of strategy, endurance and winning four prizes by guessing the prices of four items that they could win. Sometimes....they don't win any of them. Other times...they win all four, or two or even one.

You just have to run and not look at the audience so much which is what many of the contestants do. They lose time by looking at their friends hoping they would help.

Master Key:

Do you wanna win a car? Or even a trip to a day spa, or a computer? With Master Key, you get three chances to win each of the three I mentioned.

Ok, the contestants get a chance to win three prizes. One of them being a car...of course. One key is a blank key which would open nothing. Sometimes, the contestant gets a key that will open one. But rarely, one contestant will win everything by choosing the master key.

Pathfinder:

This is a guess the price of a car game by stepping on numbers to form a path to the winning numbers.

The contestant would have to guess the amount of the prizes to pick the right number. It could be behind them or in front of them, or next to them. It depends on the amount of the car. Sometimes, contestants will win, other times, they lose.... but I rarely saw one contestant winning the car without getting one number wrong.

Maybe they did, I'm not sure though.

Dice Game:

This game makes you feel like the contestant is in Vegas, but they win a car instead of money. They have to guess the price of the car by rolling some dice. No number higher than a 6 and no number lower than a 1 which means there would be no 0s in the game.

If they get the right number, there would be a ding. But sometimes.... they would get a six or a one meaning that it is an automatic win.

Rat Race:

Recently a new game that came out around the 2000's. The contestant would choose a rat hoping they would win a car. They can get three rats to win not only the car, but two other prizes as well.

It's like Master Key involving rats that race. Every race was different, and you can never tell which color rat would win the race. Most of the time....it would be the green rat or the pink rat or even yellow. Sometimes the contestant will win all three.

THE BEST THREE GAMES OF PRICE IS RIGHT:

3. Temptation:

This game is tempting to the contestant. First off Drew (or Bob) would ask if it's the contestants birthday. Then you know what game you're playing. The contestant sees a few prizes that they think could have the numbers to the car they might win.

They pick the number and hope they are right. They get a chance to either keep the prizes that are shown... or even go for the car as well as the prizes. But if one number is wrong.... everything is gone.

2. Let Em' Roll

The contestant can win the car of their dreams if they get the price right for certain prizes. They get a chance to roll dice. It's like Yahtzee, but you want to get five images of a car to win the car.

It's an ok game and many people get their free spin and win the car, but sometimes, they get cash if they don't get the five cars. Mostly in the thousands area.

GAMES THAT WERE NOT MENTIONED BUT WERE GOOD:

Punch a bunch- You can win over $25,000 dollars if you get the right punch. Getting four punches on a punch board. It's all in the pick.

Spelling bee- You can win a car by spelling the word CAR. Getting C's, A's and R's. Sometimes...the contestant might get a card with the word Car and win automatically.

It's in the bag- To win a prize like a cruise or even a new bedroom, you have to pick out which grocery item is from the price. If it's revealed to be right, there would be a duplicate.

Now....or then- A game which you find out if the price is correct, of if it was the price back on a certain year. It used to be called Now...and then.

One right Price- This is a game in which you figure out from two items which is the price from only one price tag.

Pay the rent- A recently new game which has certain grocery items, and you have to figure out which one is the most expensive of them all.

1. Plinko

The most requested game any contestant wants to play. Believe me, seeing the show since I was fifteen... next to Cliffhangers, Plinko is the most requested game ever. All the contestant has to do is find out the price of a few items to get five chips to win $50,000.

Sometimes they would try to win over $100,000. It's one addicted game. One person won the most on Plinko and no one has beaten his win since.

Ever since 1972, this game show has been the most watched, and I can see why. Ever since I was fifteen, I got into this show. Been through everything. Even from host and announcer changes. Now, it seems its going nowhere anytime soon, and new games will be replacing games that is no longer in use. Till then.... come on down and enjoy the entertainment.
