There're the cola wars, the pizza wars, the video game wars, the fast-food wars.... but have you ever heard of something called 'The tissue wars?" Is this real? Well, a lot of people would think one tissue brand is better than the other. Those two brands are Kleenex and Puffs. Which came first, which is more superior, and which one do I like to use?
Let's start with.... Kleenex
Kleenex started out around the end of WWI when GI soldiers developed crepe paper to use as a gas mask.
Might not have worked to their advantage, but a new tissue was born. They modified the so-called 'gas masks' with Kotex pads as well.
After WWII ended, most of America would say the word 'Kleenex' when they want a tissue. They had different brands and would be created to remove make up from your face before you went to sleep.
By the early 2000's Kleenex started making Anti-Viral tissues to prevent another cause of flu or clods. It seemed to skyrocket during the pandemic and even today...
Kleenex is still around today. Not only creating new ways to make their tissues not only softer but even can be available to kill germs with one blow of the nose. But it doesn't mean it's considered the number one tissues, but it holds history of how it was created and why the brand is popular today as it was during WWI.
Puffs tissues is its own brand. A wannabe 'Kleenex' some say. But when did it start showing up, and was it trying to one-up Kleenex? To me, I don't think it is. However, I think Puffs tissues might be softer than its competitor.
Puffs, like Kleenex, have different verities, but unlike Kleenex, Puffs is considered a tissue that is softer than any other brand. In their ads...they show the person feeling as if the tissues they are using were hurting their nose. When they try Puffs, they feel a cushiony pillow of softness comfort their nose.
Unlike Kleenex, Puffs doesn't have many germ-killing brands that could stop the cold or flu from coming around.
Not only do these two tissue brands fight battle over their softness as well as keeping germs on the tissue, but it could be price as well. Both tissues can be pricy, and another competitor would use a cheap brand of tissue and lower the price. But does that mean lower price is the best way to go?
Both tissue brands have their history in how they were started. While Proctor and Gamble owns Puffs Kimberly & Clark is responsible for how Kleenex was created. Now... is there really such a thing as a tissue war?
Maybe, maybe not, but there are other brands out there besides both Kleenex and Puffs. White cloud is another brand of toiletry accessories. They have not only toilet and paper towels, but tissues as well. Scott, which is more a toiletry accessory, also has their own brand of tissues. Are they the best? Well.... not like Puffs or Kleenex great. They are there when needed, but they don't give you a soothing relief like both others do.
But if I had to choose a favorite brand of tissue. Puffs would be the clear winner. Why? Well, with my sensitive skin, I feel it's best to pick a tissue that would ease my sore nose. It doesn't mean Kleenex isn't bad, but if it comes down to softness, Puffs wins. But it doesn't mean I'll will get a Kleenex tissue now and then.
