Rocko's modern life!

Joe Murray created this 90's Nickelodeon hit, that I have fallen in love with when I was a kid that involved a wallaby named Rocko.

Sadly it only lasted a couple of seasons but I enjoyed it like I did the early Rugrats and SpongeBob and Nickelodeon's Doug. This show, however, was more of a guilty pleasure for people who liked sick stuff. In my opinion Rocko was sort of gross, not Ren and Stimpy gross but some episodes were disgusting which involved vomiting, rochy which no child would understand until they were adults and sometimes eating gross foods.

Censorship was everywhere in almost every episode, and sometimes, some epidotes had to delete certain things because it was too naughty for young viewers. One episode included Rocko and Heffer spending a night in a hotel. I'm not going to give a lot away but you can see more of it on YouTube if you want.

For the characters, Rocko is the main star. A wallaby who moves to O-Town from I guess Australia and is sometimes homesick.
He has a friend named Heffer who is a steer and another friend named Filbert who is a turtle and he is in love with a cat with a hook for a hand. Interesting is it not.

With the first season, the theme song was really awesome. I can't explain it but, they had a pretty neat beat that went a long with the first season opening. However, Joe Murray didn't like it and they changed it with the second season, and I didn't like that. They used two of the singers in B-52 to sing the theme from the second season to the last.

Mr. Bighead hates Rocko, but Mrs. Bighead could go either way, their son Ralph (voiced by creator Joe Murray) made a cartoon that is based on his parents called Fatheads. He wanted to end the Fatheads using Rocko and his friends help with Wacky Deli and let's say it didn't work out as well as it planned.

Heffer's family is nothing but a pack of wolves who fell in love with him when he was a baby. Rocko finds out Heffer was adopted and Heffer freaks out about it and looks for his real family, knowing along it was always the Wolfe family. (and his mother is Virginia Woolfe, played off by the late and talented writer Virginia Wolfe)

There were some good episodes, but sadly it never had a decent series finale. It could have been when Heffer went into a coma or that Thanksgiving episode, we would never know, but it ended too soon and yet that Sponge on Nickelodeon is still going on.
Well it was a great show while it lasted and now repeats are on tv today Rocko did have a Modern life (even if he snuck some innuendos in there of course)

Till then Enjoy the show I loved in the 90's and I miss today and I'm sort of glad it isn't on like SpongeBob beating itself to death in the ocean blue with new lame episodes. Ciao Bloggers!
