Why are cartoons drawn the same?

 

      Have Cartoons become lazy over the years? I don't mean every cartoon, but some of the recent works like on Cartoon Network have a similar style when it comes to drawing certain characters. It could be any cartoon show...but lately shows on Cartoon Network have a similar style with facial features and the body of a certain character.

   I stopped watching Cartoon network a long time ago. It's still on...but I feel it is on its way out with streaming becoming popular. I've noticed certain characters on shows like We Bare Bears, Amazing World of Gumball and Steven Universe. All shows from Cartoon network.

   Every artist has a different unique style with their cartoons. Matt Groening with the Simpsons; Matt and Trey with South Park...and so on and so forth. There have been different features of a cartoon character designed by a different artist.

  Why do I feel some shows are just copy and pasting now? Even if it's cartoons, I don't watch, I can see the same facial features with a grinning smile... their eyes looking wide and their nose either huge or small
 Back when I used to watch Cartoon network, they used to have different styles for each one of their characters...and they were all unique. Now...I don't think they care anymore.

   Cartoons used to have different styles of art... but now I feel certain creators are just seeing other cartoon shows and feeling their facial features of a certain character should just show the same. Even some Nickelodeon cartoons are doing it. Not just Cartoon Network.

   Almost all cartoon shows today are guilty of having a weak style when it comes to design.

     I don't want to criticize every show that I don't watch.... but I feel that there is some laziness today with the use of a computer screen instead of drawings. Almost every cartoon is done digitally. while some still show they care by using paint or even pencil drawings. 

   I guess I just miss the cartoons I grew up with and I'm judging other cartoons for having a similar style when it comes to different cartoons. I used to watch Rugrats (until the second movie), Fairly OddParents, Angry Beavers...and they were pretty creative. 

  Some did have a similarity in style...but it wasn't noticeable until much later...when the show ended.

     Now...you can see any cartoon character designed in different style from SpongeBob having a Simpson style to Mario looking like a Disney character. Now a days...it doesn't matter what certain cartoons are drawn as...but I feel certain ones.... like the ones on Cartoon Network...are starting to show...they stopped caring. But for me...I guess wanted to know if it was just me of if anyone else sees a similarity in certain cartoon characters. I can't be the only one.
