I have talked about Cartoon Network before. But, I like to get behind the scenes.
Around 1992 Cartoon Network was born, but it didn't make a huge start for me till a few years later. Mostly showing Hannah Barbara and Loony Tunes, old shows mostly. Having Yogi Bear as well as Tom and Jerry.
Soon....around the late 1990's they started making their own shows, and even getting in more of their shows with having a show called....
I have talked about this show before, so I'll keep it short. They had old clips of cartoons. Some shows works, shows didn't. They would soon find the ones that they would put on Cartoon Network. They would be called Cartoons-Cartoons
One of them was:
Dexter's laboratory was a story about a boy named Dexter who was considered a genius. He had an older sister that was always sneaking into his lab and destroying things. It was an ok show.
Loved it, then the lead voice actor left for health reasons (which sadly led to her death) they replaced her with another. She was ok, but they changed the show. Having different writers and it wasn't the same. Was Dexter one of my favorites? It was ok.
Powerpuff girls was AMAZING. I loved the show. This was one of the shows that got me into Cartoon Network. A show about three girls with superpowers that save a town from baddies
Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup would protect Townsville from villains like Mojo Jojo, Him, Fuzzy Lumpkins. There were many. And now they are back, but they are not the same. They also did a movie that was pretty good. I would give it a thumbs up. DO NOT SEE THE REMAKE.
A show about a very self absorbed man who loves to look macho, and tries to score with the ladies. His name is Johnny Bravo. It was a great show, but I didn't like how it ended. Around the first two seasons, he was good. Had to deal with a nosy little girl, lived with his mother and so on and so forth.
He teamed up with Scooby doo and the gang. It was funny. The later two seasons, they were ok. They added new characters, they changed the style as well. I found it ok. Not as bad as Dexter's laboratory. I'd give this show a thumbs up.
There were two shows that I found to be a little well...gross. Kind of a Ren n Stimpy vibe, but not that disgusting. It involved a cow and a chicken, that I guess was given birth by a family that never show the top half of their body. Were they just legs. It seems there is this red devil like guy that gets cow and chicken to do bad things.
I couldn't get into this show, so I don't have much to say. After that show ended, I M Wesel came into the show. I don't remember it much so, for about it.
A show called Foster's home came into the show later in the year. About a boy and his imaginary blue friend who is sent to a foster home created by an old lady and her granddaughter. I loved the show. It was really creative and it was good till it ended.
There were many characters on the show like a bird like creature that only said "Coco", a tall imaginary friend that would later have a back story about finding his creator, a scared purple monster that really has a heart of gold and many more. They even had temporary imaginary characters. Some that scared us and some that well...ok just some that annoy us.
The Grim adventures of Billy and Mandy was a show about a grim reaper that has to spend eternity with two kids. One named Billy and another named Mandy. Mandy was known to scare and be mean to both Grim and Billy, but especially Grim. Making his life a living hell.
Billy is just a complete idiot that tortures Mandy and irritates Grim. They had some TV specials as well as two movies. They were ok. The show I would give a thumbs up, but it wasn't my favorite.
Courage the cowardly dog was my second favorite show on Cartoon Network. A show about a dog name Courage who was found by Muriel. Her husband, a farmer name Eustice would treat Courage horribly. It seems Courage would have to save both of them from certain danger. I thought this show was pretty good.
They revived it recently for internet only. I didn't like it. Wallace Shawn replaced the recently deceased voice actor of Eustice. I thought he was ok. Not great. Plus they did a 3D version as well, which I thought wasn't that impressive.
My favorite, out of all the Cartoon Network shows that I have seen is Ed, Edd n Eddy. Why? Because it was hilarious. A show about three boys named Ed. One is a genius, one's a scam artist, and another is stupid, but brilliant at times.
They live in a cul-de-sac with other kids that don't like them. I've talk about this show before, so I'll keep it brief.
The Ed's would try to scam the kids out of their quarters, but fail most of the time. They had later season where they would end up getting in trouble at school. But how the series ended, I thought was perfect.
Eddy would always brag about his older brother and how he was the head honcho of the cul-de-sac. But in reality, he was nothing but a bully. After terrorizing Eddy, Ed decided to take action as he slams Eddy's big brother with a door. At the end, it seems all the kids (minus one) decide to give all the Ed's a second chance as being friends with them. And after that, I no longer watched Cartoon Network.
Yes Cartoon Network, to me is gone. The shows now belong to another network called Boomerang that run new episodes of Scooby Doo as well as showing old shows of Cartoon Network classics. Cartoon Network is still on, but I don't care for it anymore. I will always remember vintage Cartoon Network
