Freaks and Geeks- a show about a bunch of high schoolers, some being freaks and some being geeks. Launching talent of great actors like: Linda Cardellini, Seth Rogan, James Franco, Jason Segal and many more. I never got into the show, but I always thought it was somewhat like Dawson's creek, but interesting. I even thought it would have a second season, but got the axe by the end of the first season. But at least actors got more rolls in TV and Movies in their future.
Firefly- Based on a comic book, it is considered a space western story about a man named Mal who becomes a captain of a spaceship in the year 2517. Starring Nathan Fillion as the lead, who pilots a ship, and well...I don't remember much of it, but Nathan Fillion was pretty sexy as a space pilot. It was one of the tv shows that was on the list of "cancelled too soon" It did end it by giving it a movie to wrap up what happened, but I never saw any of it. I would later see Nathan Fillion as Castle.
Selfie- Never heard much of this one, but it's about the life of a woman, and a junior executive partner of hers. I guess it follows her life around. I never even seen this. All I know it was like a show that was not really worth seeing, but then again, how would I know. It only lasted one year.
Almost Family- This is receant. My father and I have seen this. Starring Britany Snow and Emily Osmant, it revolves around three woman who learn that they are sisters. How, because Britany's father concieved with all three girls. The reason it got cancelled, not because it was bad. It was actually pretty good. Fox pulled the plug on this show after finding out the dark secrets Timothy Hutton was hiding, and it inovlved...well it wasn't good, and all the questions we wanted the answers for, remained a mystery. (well not all)
Cop Rock- Ever wanted to have a singing cop show??? Cop shows were starting to become popular in early 1990. I guess having cops sings was going to be a new trend, but it hit a brick wall on the rating, and they started to plummet fast. It got cancelled after a few episodes. I guess singing cops wasn't the new thing everybody wanted. I didn't even understand it.
Awake- Another good show that was pulled out too soon. About a man who was in a car accident with his wife and son. When he wakes up one day, his wife lives and his son dies....but the next time he wakes up, it's reversed. And you can tell which world he's in by the color of his tie as well as the world he is in. If it's green, his son lives, if it's orange, his wife lives. I thought it was very good. I forgot how it ended, but I guess they all died in the car crash. Why would they think it's a good idea to not give this show a second chance?????
Terra Nova- Taking place in the future, a few people have created a sort of colony (think of it as a better version of Lost) But with the over population, a few people create a new world and try to survive in it without anyone going insane. Why did this show get cancelled and Lost didn't? It's been a long while since I've seen it, but a I can remember is the few people that were saved. But there was also another group called the badlands, and they were trying to destroy their new home. This should have gotten a second season.
The Grinder- Another Fox show that got the axe after the first season. Staring a sexy Rob Lowe and Fred Savage, it's about a tv actor returning to his hometown, where people believe he's a lawyer. Even though, he isn't he just pretends that he is. I'm trying to figure out this one, but I can now see why it got cancelled early. Rob Lowe is still sexy.
Studio 60 on the Sunset strip- After Friends ended, it seemed some of the actors tried to find work. Matthew Perry was one of them. The show, sunset, is considered a comedic drama. Involving Matthew Perry's character who is a character to be in a show-within a show. It was like a wannabe SNL. It was ok. Got to watch a few episodes, and well...then it was over.
Sunnyside- created by Kal Penn, this show was about a few people that were immigrating into America. His character lost an election, and is considered a loser. So the people that were immigrating come to his aid needing help. I couldn't stand this show. I could tell, after the first eplisode I saw, that this would not last another season. I was right, but I tried to give it a chance. Kal Penn is a good actor after all.
Angel from Hell- After Glee ended, Jane Lynch decided to go on a short lived show called Angel from Hell and well, I don't remember but I guess she follows a young lady around like an evil guardian angel. It didn't last, and well...Jane still acting
I wanna talk about one more show...
Dads- There were two shows back around 2013. One called Mom and the other Dads. Dads was about two grown men living with their father. I don't think I ever saw one episode. The show mom, well...the show dads was cancelled before the first season ended.
Not many shows do last after one season. Sometimes networks don't even give them a second chance. But then again, there are shows that have lasted so long, they jumped the shark. Sometimes, we never get a chance to see another season of a show that is good, but then again, sometimes we're happy that some shows got the axe.
