Ever read "The Secret Garden", "A little Princess", "Gone with the Wind", "The great Gatsby"
But is every movies truly based on the books, or is the movie better than the books? Well Here are some good examples of great stories that became movies.
First: I want to talk about-
The Great Gatsby- First off the book is based on the year of 1922 by a man named Nick Carraway. Talking about what happened in the summer, falling in love with a girl who's husband mistreats her and cheats on her.
There were two movies. One in 1974, but more people remember 2013 with Leo DiCaprio portraying Jay Gatsby, one of the richest man in the story. The book was ok. I vaguely remember much of the story since I've only read it once. The movie was somewhat differ in each version. What do I think about it??? Well...it was ok, but I think the book might have been better
The Secret Garden- a story about a girl named Mary who loses both her parents in an earthquake. She lives with her uncle who has been under depression since his wife's death. The story and movie are somewhat similar, however, I think the story has more detail on Mary's life. She soon notices a secret garden of her aunt's...feeling that there is a special connection. She soon shows a friend, and finds out her disabled cousin, who also had depression over his mother's death, and they find a way to keep the garden not only a secret, but also alive
A little Princess- I remember the movie more than the book. There was a Shirly Temple version as well, but I remember the 1995 version about a girl named Sara who goes to boarding school while her widower father goes to war. Fearing he died, not knowing a soldier of the father that lived next door died, she soon became poor and started to work with an African-American girl named Becky. Eventually, when she finds out her father is blind and is living with the same man who lost his son, only to be taking care of him....it starts to get worse for Sana, in the point of her getting end up becoming a theif and even arrested only to be saved by her father who regains his memory. I loved the movie, and the story was good too.
The Notebook- A story about two people that fall in love to their old age. The story is about a notebook that the man reads to his wife who was suffering from Alzneimers. I don't remember the story, or the movie, but it was heart breaking, good acting. It seems that it is about two people that fall in love and write a story about their life. It's good, and as I said, if you can hold in the tears by the end, it might be worth seeing.
The curious case of Benjamin Button- I already blogged about this story that became a movie staring Brad Pitt as Benjamin Button. And it starts with his love intrest that talks about his life and him aging backwards. It was a good movie. The author of the story is the same author of the great gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald.
The story was good, but to me....I think Brad Pitt never ages.
There are other good stories that were based on classic books but one, I remember the most....
To Kill a mockingbird- This movie was based on the book by Harper Lee, teaching us an amazing lesson. You can never judge a book by its cover, as you can't judge someone on the color of their skin. The movie starred Gregory Peck as Atticus Finch, one of his best roles he would ever be known for.
The acting was great, and it seemed to be the same as the story, but might be better. The kid actors grew up to always be known as Jem and Scout. One of the best movies that was based on a story like a little princess...but this one is the best.
There are other classic stories that would be parodied into movies but these are the ones I remember the most.
Keep reading, you never know when it can one day become a movie, and for me....I'll keep writing, 'cause one day, one of my own creations will become a movie.
