Sydney White and A Cinderella Story- are they similar?

Seen both movies and I feel both of them have a similar theme, and I don't mean mocking Cinderella and Snow White and the seven dwarves.

Amanda Bynes and Hillary Duff are both the leads. "Sydney White" is portrayed by Amanda and Hillary is a girl named "Sam"

First I'll talk about the similarities:

Both have dead mothers Sydney lost her young while Sam lost hers at birth. Sydney still had her father to help her out while Sam's father remarried and well...

This is where the similarities become differences.

Sam's father dies while Sydney moves to college with the help of her father and his friends.

Sydney is joined a few geeks that resemble the seven dwarves and help her out to take out a wicked 'bitch' named Rachel Witchburn played by Sara Paxton (who is related to the late Bill Paxton)

In A Cinderella Story, there is more wickedness to Sam. She has to live with the stepmother and stepsisters. She isn't popular and has to work at her late father's diner where she is nicknamed 'Diner Girl'

I can tell by watching both movies there are evil girls, popular and controlling the school and they dating hot guys that fall head over heels for the lead.

I don't know why but I feel as if both movies were written by the same author. Although it was based on a fairy tale, it doesn't seem as if it was made to be considered one of their best works. But in "A Cinderella's Story" case, it is better than all the sequels that came out later.

With both evil girls knowing that their man is head over heels for the lead, they devise a plan to sabatosh them (actually with Sydney White it was for a debate)

Shelly reads embarrassing emails curdosy of Sam's evil sisters and Rachel decided to destroy a paper that makes Sydney pull an all nighter, and eventually they get saved at the end, one with a kiss and another with a Babe Ruth quote in the restaurant.

I feel as if, and if I had to choose which was my favorite, I guess "A Cinderella Story" because not only do I like Hillary Duff, but I felt more of a connection to the story of Cinderella in this one (But EVER AFTER did better)

Deep down I felt they were the same writing style with similarities and differences maybe, maybe not, but you be the judge. Ciao for now bloggers.
