Golden girls is hilarious

Four elderly women living in Miami. Think of it as the elderly version of "Sex and the city" This show started in the late 80's and ended in 1992. What was it about. A woman who lives with her mother and two friends.

One of them being dumb and talking about her home in St. Olaf. Her name was



    Rose Nyland. Played by Betty White, she was the oldest in the bunch. She was considered an air head and loved to go on and on and on about her life in a town in Minnesota called St. Olaf. Considered a Viking kind of town. She can show a little brightness, but most of the time, she would bore her friends. She had a relationship with a man named Charlie, but after his death, she started going out with someone name Miles. She also would get hit on the head constantly with a newspaper by her roommates.



Dorothy Zbornak was another. Considered the lead of the show. She is a substitute teacher and lives with her friends and mother. Has to deal with not only Roses insanity, but her ex husband Stan. He would try to ask for her to come back to him, or even get money troubles solved. She was almost close to remarrying him, but it didn't work out.



Blanche Devereaux is another friend of Dorothy's. She is considered a slut to her friends that she would do anything to land a man, or sleep with one. She did get married to George, but after his death, she starts going out with other men. She soon learns her late husband cheated on her when she meets his estranged son. She is no stranger to going on double dates, even if it means pissing off her friends.



    Sophia Petrillo is Dorothy's mother. Ironically played by an actress that is younger than the actress that is portraying her daughter. She is quick with a joke at anyone's expense. Has to be silenced by her daughter, and is good at a card game as well as scrabble. Out of all the characters, she was considered one of the funniest. She was supposed to be in one episode, but I guess people liked her, and she became a perminate character.

           Why do I find this show hilarious, although three out of the four actress are dead and the show has been off the air for a while?

    You find hilarious stuff like this. Not even with today's tv shows, some that even try too hard and are forced a laugh track. After Big Bang Theory ended, I can tell most shows are not as funny as they used to be.


I guess I started liking this show when I was twelve, but didn't really get into it till recently. I love this show like I love, Seinfeld or Big Bang Theory. You can't get good writing like this anymore.



Sadly, we did lose three of the four actors. Estelle Getty (Sophia) died of dementia, Bea Arthur (Dorothy) died of cancer and Rue McClanhan (Blanche) died of a brain hemorrhage.

Betty White is the only surviving actor, and still going strong at 98. She will be starring in a Hallmark movie soon. She does look as if she had aged, but she still is an amazing woman. Funny, outgoing, and strong willed. Playing the oldest Golden Girl, it was amazing to see that she out lived them all

Betty White is still considered a legend in TV history and Golden Girls is one of the reasons why. So, if you are looking for a funny show, Golden Girls is one of them, you won't stop laughing from all the hilarity they give you.
