We try to feel as if it will come, and go. Spring has already come, but it didn't stay long. Memorial day, fourth of July, Labor day... the big beach going barbecue having days.
When we the fallen one day, the birth of America, and knowing summer will end... for now enjoy it.
What do we do to celebrate summer? For me, it's starts with memorial day. Going upstate to visit my grandparents grave. Then go have some lunch, have fun, then finish it off with ice cream at an ice cream parlor that is better than any Dairy Queen.
Ice cream is what we can enjoy everyday but most of us want to enjoy it on a hot summer day. For me, I would enjoy a chocolate ice cream cone. Plain, no sprinkles, no toppings, just a plain chocolate ice cream.
Other summer foods include:
* Hot dogs (mostly eaten on the fourth of July at Nathan's in Coney island) Joey Chestnut is considered the champion. I don't know if he still is but, believe me, he has in haled a lot of hot dogs to win the mustard colored belt.
* Grilling hamburgers, steaks, vegetables
* Cool icing drink enjoyed out in the backyard.
having an ice cream truck parked in your driveway with those captivating bells. What would you get, a Ninja Turtle bar, an ice pop. I would get an ice cream sandwich. Like I do all the time. You're never too old for getting food out of an ice cream truck.
Another good summer treat: s'mores...
Enjoyed mostly by boy and girl scouts, place a chocolate bar (mostly a Hershey bar) with a graham cracker, shove a marshmallow through a stick near an open campfire, and presto....a delicious sticky desert to enjoy. Or if a campfire is not available, use a microwave. It's not as great as the original method, but if anyone wants a delicious s'more, that could be another way.
Another fun thing to do in the summer, kick back, and relax at the beach. Take your toes off...place them in the sand.
Going to the Outer Banks is one of the things we do for vacation. To get away from the work a day. We don't go every year, but it seems when we do, we enjoy every day of it. Even the rainy days.
With summer just about here, it already feels that it is. Happy (Early) Summer to everyone. Enjoy anyway you want to.
