To me, and to everyone else, I think it's just an excuse for Disney to make money and produce nothing but sequels of their amazing movies like "Peter Pan" or "Aladdin" and even "Cinderella"
Even though now they're making remakes of them as well which is even five times worse.
It all started with Aladdin and "Return of Jafar" and what I thought about that well, three words... too much Iago. I am not a huge fan of Gilbert Godfried and apparently he is in almost every scene. Sadly, Robin Williams wasn't even voicing the genie in this one, it was the guy who does Homer Simpson's voice, Dan Castellaneta.
Even if he is a really good voice actor, this was not one of his great voice works.
This involved Jafar coming back and seeing revenge on Aladdin, Jasmine and all the rest. I wasn't a huge fan of this one, but it did start the TV series "Aladdin" what ended it, another sequel.
"Aladdin and the King of thieves" This was somewhat better. Not because of Robin Williams coming back, but the story seemed to focus more on Aladdin and how he wants to know what happened to his father, who he soon realizes is the new King of Thieves and left his wife and Aladdin to go "treasure hunting" By the end Aladdin joins his father to find what he is searching when all the time he was trying to find him. I guess it was fine. I'd say somewhat better than Return of Jafar, but not great.
Another one I wanna talk about is "Extremely Goofy Movie" After the first "Goofy Movie" they wanted to make another. This one, I think in my opinion was ok. Not great, but Ok. Max is in College and Goofy has no College degree, so he has to be in the same College his son is in to receive one. Meanwhile, Max and his two friends are in the X-Games and some snooty wannabes are challenging Max to the next game to be the new towel boy. Goofy wants to be a part of Max team but he joins the wannabes who he later finds out are cheating and he has to warn his son.
Some one's I didn't care for or didn't want to see would be:
Beauty and the Beast Belle's magical world (or tragical world whatever you wanna call it)
Pocahontas 2 Journey to a new world
Little Mermaid 2 Return to the sea
Cinderella II: Dreams come true
and
The Hunchback of Notre Dame II
Those were considered one of the worst of the sequels but one of these sequels I have to think was better than the original and that is:
Cinderella III: A twist in time
It might not be the best, but it is better than the second sequel.
One of the evil step sisters, Anastasia (voiced by Tress McNeille) discovers the Fairy Godmother's magic wand and accidentally freezes her. The evil step mother to keep the wand and make everything back to the way it was before the glass slipper and make Anastasia wear it instead. It works and she hypnotizes the prince so he doesn't remember dancing with Cinderella.
The evil stepmother's plans start to work but soon, with a touch of Cinderella's hand, the prince starts to think maybe Anastasia isn't the right one. Anastasia feels the same way but soon, Cinderella is taken away. Happily, she comes back and tells the king everything going on and what really happened.
Sadly, Anastasia is replacing Cinderella and Cinderella is cast away. By the end, the truth is told but not by Cinderella, but by Anastasia.
Are Disney Sequel's really bad? Well no. that's really on the viewer to decide. Sometimes they try too hard to please the people that loved the original. It could work, and other times it could bomb. When you get a good sequel you will know it's a good one and not just by the viewers, but how you like it.
