The story of "Goodnight Moon"

  Yes, it is a book, but what is it about this book that is interesting to every generation from young to old? Why this book?

Image result for goodnight moonHer name was Margaret Wise Brown. The author of "goodnight Moon" as well as other children tales such as:

 * The Big Red Barn
 * Runaway Bunny
 * Where the wind blew
 * Goodnight Kittens
and many other tales that involved bunnies or animals of sorts.

  Margaret Wise Brown didn't live a long life. Cut short at the age of 42 from an embolism when she kicked up her leg, and had blood clot in the process.

  She would be remember for many of these books, but "Goodnight Moon" the most.

   When I was young, I loved a lot of Margaret Wise Brown books, but this one was one of my favorites.

 It is known far and wide to be one of the best books she had ever written. About a certain who wouldn't go to bed, until he said goodnight to the moon, the stars, the clock and many various things in the room as well. To a bowl of mush, and kittens, a cow jumping over a moon.

   Image result for goodnight moon gif Parodied in many tv shows like the Simpsons with "Christopher Walken" reading it to small children (scary). There have been other variations, other languages of this story.

  A story about a bunny rabbit saying goodnight to various things in one room. How can this book be popular?

Image result for goodnight moon gif Well, maybe it's not the book, let a lone it was some children's way of learning how to read. With me it was "Go do Go" and others would say "Goodnight moon"

  Apparently Margaret Wise Brown hidden one of her famous books: The Runaway bunny in the bookshelf of the room. You have to look carefully to find it, but it's there. I didn't notice that until I was in my twenties.

   There were even last minute edits before the book was taken to be printed. Also was written fast, but had a slow illustration.

  The illustrator, Clement Hurd, created the world that was in the "Goodnight Moon". He even illustrated most of Margaret Wise Brown stories such as Goodnight Moon, The Runaway Bunny and many more.

  Living to be in his eighties, he was considered one of the best illustrator of children books. He even illustrated many of his wife's works.

Image result for runaway bunny I think I loved "Goodnight Moon" not because of how it was meant to be a sweet simple story, but how it challenged us to know that when one day is over, you can look forward to another as you say goodnight to a certain moon within the stars, and Good morning to the sun when you rise.

   Thanks Margaret Wise Brown, you made many children smile at the moon at night, and love bunny rabbits at the same time.

What does Vintage mean?

Image result for nostalgicWe can call it "vintage", "nostalgic" or even "retro"

  What do they mean? Is there a vague difference between one of the other?

Image result for vintage toys gifIt could come from anywhere like: toys, books, movies. Anything can have a vintage quality to it, and how we remember it, it can be very interesting. We can watch old movies, play with our own toys, even have collection beyond collection of stuff in a warehouse somewhere, hiding away everything but the value.

  Some vintage toys like: the Easy-Bake Oven, the first Barbie doll, vintage matchbox cars...they can be worth money today for it's nostalgic price.

  But it's not just toys or movies, it can be ANYTHING.

  Collectors everywhere have old storage house filled with they have been collecting throughout the years. It seems some towns, even in Philly dedicate nostalgia from warehouses to huge floats of vintage toy memorabilia.

Not many people are aware that not only is this stuff worth money, but expensive as well.

  There is a difference between vintage and nostalgia. One meaning it has value, as the other has memory.

 Nostalgia is memory of something that is no longer around, or they remember from their past.

  Vintage is what you still have, and could be worth money. Memories last forever even long after what you have come to love is gone, but if you are a collector (or a hoarder) you would be able to stack vintage things in warehouses like the one in Philadelphia which is called: "American Treasure Tour"

  You can find anything at this place. A whole warehouse full of old pianos, doll houses, vintage  cars, puppets, and you go on a trolley ride to see through everything in this one man's collection, unknown and still collecting to this day.

  So...… is Vintage a good thing, or something that would make us become hoarders? If someone likes to collect, they would do so from the start of childhood, to adulthood.

   Is too much vintage a bad thing? Well yes and no. But if it something you admire, it doesn't make it a truly bad thing, but the memories will still be there.

Vintage means-the past and Nostalgia means- the memories of the past.

   Side note: America's Treasure Tour has large stuff including the world's largest slinky that has been made into the Guinness Book of world Records.
