colorful ribbons

You've seen them being warn by many people. Orange, red, yellow, blue.... any color. How did it all start though?








                     

                                       With all the colors, we want to know, what are they for?

They are awareness ribbons. Used to help remember someone that we loved, go to heaven. Such as:

Death from:
*Cancer
*Seizure
*Alzheimer's


But they're not all bad.  Most of them are very helpful, in getting rid of the diseases that it has caused.
      For purple, it is Alzheimer's
      Pink would be for breast cancer
      Dark blue colon cancer
      Red AIDS awareness
      Pearl for Lung Cancer


the list goes on.

   Other ribbons like the one with different colors, well that's autism. It has puzzle pieces in it as well.

Other ribbons are used for US Troops which is light yellow, and some of them... well they all have a different purpose.


I see people wearing them a lot and for them, it attributes if they fighting for it, or lost someone because of it.




                                   
 








  They are also used for survivors, like me, being a stroke survivor, I would have a darker red, than the AIDS ribbon, different ribbons, different awareness

I've lost family members to a stroke, cancer, even Alzheimer's.

The most popular one is breast. Pink and worn many times.... deadly it can be if not cured.


  Others have walks for: breast, colon, and other kind of cancers. They would sell lemonade to childhood cancer.


 How did the ribbon start??? Some say it was from one woman, who lost her sister to breast. She would even start walks that was dedicated into her sister's memory.

  But it started earlier than that. In the 1970's when solders were lost in battle. They would tie yellow ribbons around trees, praying for the soldiers to come home.

                     yellow ribbon can have many meanings. To bring the solder home, to suicide awareness.

These ribbons are in our memories for a reason.

Not just be aware, but to remember.





(In closing, there have been any suicide deaths lately from celebrities. If you are suffering from it, there are things to do. Call a number for the suicide awareness hotline as well as knowing, you're not alone. Till then, there's a better way to solve the sadness you are facing. Remember every ribbon has a story, and to help fight cancer, suicide, illness and even AIDS, one ribbon helps. I am a survivor...

Mary Poppins of 2018

  It seems there will be a NEW Mary Poppins movie coming soon.

This time, it will be different. How? Not just because there is a different actress portraying, but the story itself, it's called MARY POPPINS RETURNS.

   This one is about when the children are grown up. Michael (portrayed by the voice of Paddington, Ben Winshaw) and his family. Mary Poppins doesn't age, I could tell...








                                                                     

Emily Blunt does a little like Julie Andrews, but will she be better? I don't think so. I grew up loving Julie Andrews as Mary Poppins. I already know the tragedy of young Michael actor dying young, but in this version....
  He's all grown up. Jane will be there too.

And so will...
DICK VAN DYKE! If it wasn't for him, I don't know if I wanted to see it. But that's just me.
I should give this a chance as well.

Not every remake of a movie sucks.
This isn't a remake, but a new story. Colin Firth portrays, what I believe, the character Dick Van Dyke portrayed, I'm not sure.


   I think Dick Van Dyke's character, Bert, from the first one. He either will have a small scene, or will portray an older version of Bert. I don't know, it's been a long time.

       When I was young... Dick Van Dyke was in everything: Mary Poppins, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, even his own show.
   Now a days, he's still acting, and this is one of them.

In this new version, the reason why Mary Poppins is back, if for Michael and his daughter. There could be a theory that his wife might be leaving him, or he just wanted her to help his children like she did for him and his sister.


   I might give this movie a chance. Around the holiday season, like most great movies. I will see 'Christopher Robin' A story about a young Christopher Robin, all grown up and Winnie the Pooh still helping him.

  Erwin McGregor will portray the adult Christopher Robbin. I have seen previews for it, and it looks AMAZING.

Sometimes, you can never know if a movie based on a book, such like Mary Poppins, will work.


About a nanny who is full of magic, fun and amazement. This new one, is like a second story by author P.L. Travers. If she were alive, who knows if she would like it or not.

She was alive when the original Mary Poppins movie was out. She thought it was not bad
There was another story that involved a maid called Amila Bedila. Written by Peggy Parish, another story about a maid who has magical powers. She has interesting stories as well about the children she was with. Amelia Bedila was vey popular in the sixties to the seventies. I got into the books since my mother kept a hold of them.


Will they ever make an Amelia Bedila movie? Who knows. We just have Mary Poppins to enjoy, and this one that is coming, looks good, not great, has the same touch of magic, I would say. There are good actors in them, even with Dick Van Dyke as well as Angela Lansberry. What I would like, at the end, is to see Julie Andrews, holding her umbrella, flying in the sky.

   For me, Emily is a little young, and she has a lot to learn. Let's see how this one does against the original. Will it be silly, magical? Who knows. All I can tell, is it better be worth it.

Where is Springfield?

         







                                                                       The big question that needs an answer.....
WHERE IS SPRINGFIELD????


                 Us fans of the Simpsons wanted to know that since the first season of the show. There are Springfield's in many states:
*Oregon
*Pennsylvania
*Illinois
*Vermont
*Wisconsin
*Colorado
*Kentucky

Where is it??????

Some episodes explain, in detail, where they are, but it changes all the time.
   Sometimes, they would explain the state (that doesn't include Alabama, or somewhere in the North East)

   Some states don't even have Springfield: Such as: North Carolina, North Dakota, Washington State, Wyoming and a few more.

Guessing this show picked the city Springfield, just because there is a Springfield mostly everywhere in the states. Not All, but some. Sometimes the episodes would take place in different states. It would be in Illinois, Wisconsin, even Oregon where the creator Matt Groening used to live.

Sometimes, you will never know where in Springfield the show takes place, but it's a mystery to many and for some, not.

Some episodes conclude what state they are not in.
  Alabama, Florida, Washington DC, California. Who knows. To me, it's just a cartoon.


Sometimes, I concluded where they are by the show, and episode itself. Even in the movie, they say that they border four states have the city of Springfield in them.
 Some episodes, the schools are different, and there is also a Shelbyville in some of the cities. I researched if there was a true Shelbyville. In the state of Oregon, there is. Concluding whenever they are dealing with the city of Shelbyville...they would be in Oregon.



I can tell by some episodes, what state they are in. The Simpsons are never in just one state, I think they are in more than one.

    To me, Springfield is just a town. A town which a fictional family lives in. I've been to Springfield, in Pennsylvania. It is nothing like the town that the Simpsons live in. With the imaginations of the writers as well as knowing what state the Simpsons are in, we eventually figure out, where in Springfield the Simpsons are in.

    To me, I just enjoy the show, knowing they just label it Springfield, USA. They even try to fool viewers, locating what state they are in. Never works out. LOL.


So, where is Springfield?

             

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    It could be anywhere, Springfield is an enigma.                                                                                       The city is everywhere, anywhere and wherever it is, there will be a huge sign that portrays Hollywood, or a stream with three eyed fish, a nuclear power plant, a school, Krustylu studios, a brewery, a church it will contain anything that Springfield has. In real life, I have very little doubt that there is a music store next to Moe's Tavern, or a Kwik-E-Mart.

But when they promoted the Simpsons Movie, they had a theme park in California with their own versions of a Slurpee, as well as Krusty theme roller coaster. It's interesting, but the better question to this is,

    WHERE IS SPRINGFIELD????? Like I said, it's everywhere.
