Charlie's Angels movies- Twenty years apart

I've seen both Charle's Angels movies and I wanna talk about them. First off, there is a history of these movies that came from a TV show. I've talked about the history of not only the two movies and how I felt about them...but here's a better description of it.

Charlie's Angels was a seventies tv show that starred the late Farrah Fawcett, it also starred Jacklyn Smith as well as a few other actors. Charlie was played by John Forsyth and David Doyle portrayed Bosley.

All I remember is the Farrah Fawcett poster almost every male had in their bedrooms including my uncle. I want to talk about the movies.

Drew Barrymore produced this movie starring her, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu. This movie was...egh. Not great, but not horrible either. It was pretty much sexualized perfection for people that want to see women change costumes constantly.

The story was about three girls who worked with Charlie and Bosley (played by Bill Murray). Their assignment was to save a scientist that had been captured. Turns out...he was the bad guy or something like that I don't know.

Sam Rockwell portrayed the so-called evil genius scientist that wants to kill Charlie for revenge. He falls for Drew's character, almost kills her, captures Bosley and flies a plane into Charlie's home, but gets killed before doing so.

It was ok, but that one of the first movies I remember Sam Rockwell in, before he would go on to do better movies.

There was some bad blood between Bill Murray and Lucy Liu. Bill would always insult Lucy and think of her as a nobody. Thankfully, Drew, Cameron and a few other people that worked on the film thought that Bill was being rude and mistreating her on purpose.

He was replaced by the late Bernie Mac in the sequel which I never saw.

The recent movie, starring Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott and Elizabeth Banks were...passable, but not great. It came out in 2019, but since the COVID incident, it wasn't mostly seen by many people until later after the pandemic.

I got a chance to see it and thought...it had a different style to it.

Naomi Scott plays a character named Elana who is a scientist that is involved with the angels, named Sabrina and Jade. There are more than one Bosleys in the story. Elizabeth Banks was one of them. Patrick Stewart was a Bosley that was set to retire, but becomes the villain later.

One of the employers that Elana works for is considered shady. She finds out the dark truth about their product called 'Calisto' which is a robot that is programed to kill people or something.... I don't remember.

She ends up in danger after becoming a pariah in her work, ending up having someone she likes dead and going into hiding.

She's found and Bosley reveals that he is the one involved, thinking that Elizabeth's character was the traitor. Patrick Stewart is pretty good at being evil. Eventually, the other angels go to save her at a party where they would find not only Bosley, but a few other people they were fighting with before.

They did something interesting with one character. In the original 2000, there was a silent assassin portrayed by Crispin Glover. They had another assassin that never talked as well.

At the end of the movie, Jacklyn Smith had a cameo welcoming Elana to the Charlie's Angel's group. She also meets other women that work with the Charlie's Angels. Training her to become a new Angel.

I read that it wasn't as strong as the 2000 one, but I thought it was pretty good. There's a new Charlie, which is really Jacklyn Smith with a voice translator.

I think both movies are ok. I prefer the 2019/2020 version over the 2000 version. Love Drew Barrymore, but I just feel that Charlie's Angels movie wasn't that great, and the sequel... I never saw so I can't say anything negative about that. But... both movies are ok. Just wanted to get my point of view out.
