Well... I don't know, but I feel some skits on the show...well, not great.
I feel that, ever since Trump became president, they have been going more political. Don't get me wrong, the skits are somewhat funny, but every time Trump makes the news, they decide to make a skit out of it.
Melissa McCarthy even portrayed Sean Spicer, and she is hilarious with her skits. Larry David even portrayed his cousin Bernie Sanders. He makes the skits great. But does it make it truly funny?
I didn't start watching SNL till around the late nineties. Some of the skits were funny, but some of the people that were on it....well
Some of them were hilarious, and some I will know for a long time.
The funniest skits I've seen were the ones that involved Celebrity Jeopardy.
Darrel Hamond portrayed Sean Connery as Will Farell was Alex Trebek. They would mock and Sean Connery would make Alex Trebek upset. It was just funny how the categories like The Penis Mightier (The pen is mightirer) Le Tits Now (Let it snow) Swords (which was really 's' words) Norm MacDonald would portray Bert Reyonlds. I thought most of those skits cracked me up.
Some of them were funny, Now, with both Darrel and Will gone, some of the skits became a little gross. Like people feeding food through their mouths or just saying gross stuff. But that doesn't happen a lot.
I guess it might depend on who is hosting. Some people who host, well they suck. Trump even hosted before becoming president. Now that skit has been banned for ever viewing.
Tom Hanks on the other hand.... He cracks me up with the skits he's doing. They even brought back Eddie Murphy around my birthday week around the holidays. He made the ratings higher than they ever were since mid 2000's.
Not all skits on SNL can be fumy, but if you have talented writers, good hosts, and a good guest stars on occasion, maybe you'll have a good show.
But do I think SNL is funny now? I might have worn out its welcome, but sometimes, it can surprise us.
Till then, enjoy SNL and remember, it all started with a few talented comedians.
