We know he is gone, but it doesn't mean his music lives on. Robert 'Bob' Nesta Marley was born on February 6th 1945, and passed away from cancer in 1981.
He died before I was born, but I still remember the music he gave us.
Famous songs like: "I shot the sheriff", "No women, No cry,"
Bob Marley was known for his music as well as his peace and love, but back in the sixties and seventies, he was known for more.
Living in Jamaica, he recorded a few songs that soon became famous, mostly, "Judge not"
My favorite songs from him are: "could you be loved, "I shot the sheriff", "Three little birds." A lot them had heart and soul, but it had rhythm too.
By the late seventies, he had a few children when his wife, Rita Anderson, one being singer Ziggy Marley.
Ziggy Marley is the son of Bob Marley. He has followed in his father's footsteps. I know for singing the theme song to the cartoon of Arthur.
Bob Marley had nine children in total, and a few grandchildren as well. One being Nico Marley.
Nico Marley has recently signed on to the Washington Redskins, and has somewhat of a resemblance to his grandfather.
For over five decades, Marley had amazed us with his music and talent. His family lives on through his children, and grand children, and with his seventy fifth birthday coming up soon, there is talk of people making a big celebration.
His style of music is ska, Reggie and rocksteady. Seventy five years of his music doesn't just go away. It seems that it lives on even after his death
Bob Marley passed away in 1981 after a bout with melanoma that he was fighting for almost four years. The prime minister from Jamaica delivered the Eulogy at his memorial. There is a statue of him in Kingston that was put up after his death.
Like Ziggy, his other children were named:
Sharon, Cedela, Stephen, Robbie, Rohan, Karen, Stephanie, Julian, Ky-Mani and his youngest Damian who was only two when Bob Marley died.
Some of the children of Bob Marely are involved with music, and others well... not heard from much.
Bob Marley is gone, but it doesn't mean his legacy will go one, even 75 years later. His final words, acording to Ziggy, were "Money can't buy love." It's true as it is relatable. He didn't do it for money, he wanted to reach out to people that he cared about. Even if there were rough times in his life like an assassination attempt on his life.
Happening in 1976 during the Jamaica election, on 56 hope road, an assassination of Bob Marley was attempted. He survived as he was shot in the arm and chest. The assassin was caught, and stories were made about what had happened that day.
Now, the music of Marley lives on and there are plans to have huge celebration around the world, even Jamaica.
Happy birthday, Bob Marley, we miss u, and your songs will always be there for us.
