I bet you have heard of the cola wars and many other wars that happened involving food at any point. Burger King and McDonalds were another. But this war involves two companies that been neck and neck since 1980s and haven't stopped since.
PIZZA HUT vs DOMINO'S. All starting in 1958 with Pizza Hut. By the Carney brothers, they decided to create a pizzeria in Wichita, Kansas. They soon grew to more pizza huts mostly in the mid west. Soon by the time the 70's came there were Pizza Hut chains everywhere. They never did deliveries so you would have to call and pick up your orders. That changed when another chain, that was also in competition starting doing deliveries.
Pizza Hut is famous for their crusts, mostly pan style was their most famous pies. They even started with stuffed crust by the late 80s early 90s where they stuffed cheese in every part of the crust.
They even had offers for kids with their small pan pizzas as well. Their commercials ran from a cartoon with eyes on a pizza slice in the 90s to the muppets as well as Jessica Simpson delivering poppables crust. Today, it seems they're trying to be healthy and showing that they can go beyond what they were in the 90s. I used to love their pan crust back when I was a kid. Now I don't really care much for Pizza Hut.
In a small town in Michigan called Ypsilanti, another pizzeria was starting to grow. They were not named Dominos at first, they were called 'Dominic's' They changed it to Dominos later and soon bean showing that they too can be as popular. Starting in colleges in Michigan and also starting to do delivery, '30 minutes or less' Sadly it ended when a pizzeria driver hit a driver in Illinois, killing her. Even though that ended, it doesn't mean people are looking at their watches, thinking it would be here thirty minutes or less.
They even had their own unique crusts, such as: Deep dish, New York Style, even 'hand made' Like Pizza Hut, they would advertise using their pizza and a certain cartoon named 'THE NOID' around the 80s and the commercial saying...
A man who's last name was NOID took offence and holding workers hostage for a few hours before being arrested. No one was harmed. Though the reputation of the noid was gone. Another character, named ANDY, came around in the 90's. However, he wasn't as popular as the noid and was discontinued before the new year of 2000 came around.
Now, Dominos is doing the same thing as Pizza Hut, changing their image, their logo and giving people offers that if their pizza was ruined before reaching their door, they would replace it.
They are still in a battle with Pizza Hut as well as Little Ceases and Papa Johns. All in a battle to be the best pizza. For me, I'm better at making pizzas. Till then the war of pizza will still continue and all we know is, nobody can hate on a pizza
