His name was Chuck Cunningham. The older brother of popular character actor Richie Cunningham played by Ron Howard. He only lasted a few episodes and left without a mention. No body in the show talked about him ever since. It was as if he vanished into thin air. They call it the "Chuck Cunningham Syndrome"
Even Seinfeld had their share of vanished siblings. Sue Ross had a brother that was seen only once and never mentioned again.
In the "Cheever Letters" episode after the fire in the cabin. They were introduced to Susan's brother who was visiting from college. And that was the only time he was ever seen. NEVER AGAIN!
Not even when George proposed or killed Susan Ross. Did he just vanish into thin air or get the "Chuck Cunningham Syndrome"
Like:
Judy Winslow from Family Matters
Stuart Minkus (a student) from Boy Meets world (but he came back on the last episode saying he was at the other side of school with a teacher who also seemed to have vanished too)
Laurie Foreman from That 70's show (portrayed by two actors. The late Lisa Robin and Christina Moore)
Either it's because of money issues, or they couldn't handle the script or who knows, but it could be because of a course that started because of a popular show and an older brother named "Chuck Cunningham" who knows. But I've noticed a trend that people can either be replaced or the character can vanish into thin air and not be mentioned ever again. Even in cartoons like Family Guy (I'm sick of that show) One of the characters of a family up'd and vanished forever but they brought him back for no reason, but just for a cheap laugh.
I think, in my opinion, characters come and go, for how long, I will never know. But if they ever brought them back, might get re-casted or have a different voice actor. But you know, it's how it happens in the world of Television.
