The curse is over they say. The Curse of the so called "Billy Goat" dried up in Chicago they now are winners.
I'm always going to be a Villanova, Phillies and Flyers fan, but this time I'm happy for Chicago. Ironically one of my stories that I write takes place in Chicago and I did take notice that they've been having sadness there lately and they needed a lift in spirits.
Wrigley Fields hasn't had this much excitement in a long time. Some of our neighbors have huge W's on their front porch, supporting the city they love.
It had to take about over five to six hours in Cleveland, in the rain, and ten innings. I didn't care who would win. I have some family in Cleveland, and my great uncle is a Cleveland Indians fan. I bet some Cleveland Indian fans were ok with the loss. They haven't won since the 40's but Chicago had to wait longer.
Even Harry Caray, the announcer for the Chicago Cubs in the 70's 80's and early 90's, predicted they would be back in the World series again in the future.
He was right. Sadly he passed away of cancer in 1998. Will Farrell did an amazing impression of him on the Jimmy Kimmel show when the Cubs were in the World Series, despite Harry Caray already being dead. (He'd done it before on SNL) So many people had faith that the Cubs would won day win the World Series
Like I would with the Phillies (which did happen in 1980 and 2008) We all need faith now and then, now it's Chicago's turn. Congratulations! Back to the Future 2 was partly right but off by one year.
Till then Ciao Bloggers and we'll see baseball once again in a couple of months.
