best songs of the 80s

Do you remember the 80's? Where wearing sports clothes around town was acceptable. I was born in 1984, and I still remember the music.

  Songs like "Thriller", "Like a Prayer", even one hit wonder songs like "Don't you (forget about me)" and many more.


Madonna became a hit singer around the year I was born. With her songs like, "Like a Virgin", "Vouge", "Like a Prayer"

   Some of her songs became controversial that even one of the music videos had to be banned from VH1 and MTV.
    The two stations that used to have music, and now don't


  Michael Jackson was a HUGE hit back in the eighties. In his leather red jacket singing to Thriller and Beat It and many other memorable songs. My favorite would have to be...

Smooth Criminal. Wearing the white suit, having gravity like shoes and not knowing the lyrics. That's what I call amazing.

  Michael Jackson was amazing back then, but we never knew the struggle and pain he was going through until his death, but back in the 80's he was also known for his Pepsi connercial




Where a young Alfanso Ribeiro was dressed like Jackson and soon meets Jackson while drinking Pepsi.

Rock songs were amazing in the 80's as well.
  Like Bon Jovi, WhiteSnake, AC/DC, Led Zeplin, KISS and many more.

Even the hairstyles were amazing. Long hair band, crazy looks, screaming into a mike. Seems as if those days are not yet over.



 Ever heard of a band called A-Ha or it's song Take on me? Well, that band is no longer around, but the song is so much of an earworm, you can't get it out of your head



Weezer has parodied that song as well as other 80's songs like everybody wants to rule the world and Africa.

Parody songs were around in the 80's because of one man.... Weird Al Yankovic

  He parodied many songs even through the nineties and now...
Well he still parodies music, but back in the 80's, he paropdied songs like "Like a Virgin" with "Like a Surgeon",  "Beat it" with "Eat it" Even songs like, "I lost on Jeopardy" was a funny one as well.


Whitney Houston, Tina Turner, David Bowie, Rolling Stones... so many bands and singers of the 80's and we still listen to them today. Why?

Has music died out? or are we just Nostalgic? nobody knows, but all I know is the 80's and it's music is here to stay

 Ever seen the movie "La Bamba?" Or listen to the song "American Pie" Well...if you have, then you would know what happened on February 3rd 1959.

   I wouldn't because I wasn't born yet. But...three musical legends, Ritchie Valence, Buddy Holly and The Big Bopper were killed in a plane crash.



From the movie, La Bamba is really the point of view of Ritchie Valence's short life. Portrayed by Lou Diamond Phillips. Dying at the age of seventeen. They even went right up into the end where Ritchie dies in the plane crash with two other famous singers. His songs like "Oh Donna", "La Bamba" will always be known as classics.

One being "The Big Bopper" or with his real name being J.P. Richardson Jr. and the other being Buddy Holly, who I remember more.

The Big Bopper was known for his songs like "White Lightning" and "Running bear" He was portrayed by the late Stephen Lee in La Bamba. After his death, it seemed he was the singer that was not the most memorable, but the one that was never forgotten.

Buddy Holly's music I would remember more. He was in a trio called the Crickets before making it on his own. His songs like "I'm gonna Love you" and his most famous" Peggy Sue. Portrayed by singer Marshall Crenshaw in La Bamba. I think I missed him more than the other two.

From the three actors that portrayed the three departed, Marshall Crenshaw was more the singer, and he did an amazing job.

The song American Pie is sung the amazing Don McLean. About almost nine minutes long and is about the life and death of teenagers on the day the music died...or something like that. But it was written about the three souls lost.

In the movie, they sometimes overplay the final parts of the singers life. It was up to Ritchie and another singer Tommy Allsup, to find out who would be on the ill fated plane ride that would end their lives.

   Tommy survived, Ritchie didn't.


And now we know about the day, the music died. On a side note, there are other versions of the song American Pie,  but Don McLean's the best
