Thanksgiving TWO WEEKS AWAY!!!!!!!!!

     Where did the time go???? Really??? I mean it's only the 8th and two weeks from today it will be THANKSGIVING!!!!


   I haven't even gotten through the end of Halloween and the start of November but now, it's two weeks till Thanksgiving. 
     I know the day before Thanksgiving will be rough for me. Working at a grocery store is tough enough but working  at one the day before is just a nightmare. So many customers will forget something and will wait till the last minute and boom... long lines everywhere. 


   And the worst is the day after Thanksgiving where people call 'Black Friday' where people love to shop by line, or just want to wait for hours on end in lines just to get the gift they want to give someone on Christmas. So they would feel appreciated come Christmas day when open that present. 
   I think it's just weird. I don't shop on Black Friday. That's suicide in my opinion (unless you wanna do it online, that's fine)

  Usually for me, the day after Thanksgiving, I end up getting sick. It happens almost every year. Don't know why, but it just happens. Hopefully, this time I won't get sick the day after Thanksgiving this year. 


   What I sometimes like about Thanksgiving is mostly being with my family, but this year, my boyfriend will join us, and I'm super happy for that.  We always have Thanksgiving at our house, every single year. 
    This year is no exceptions, but we might get more turkey or two or something like that. All I know is... it is too close to Thanksgiving, but then again, next year, it'll get farther away. Well that's all I wanted to blog about for now. Will blog again soon. Till then, Ciao Bloggers

Punta Cana

    Sorry I haven't blogged in a while. Mostly because of the hurricane and my vacation I keep forgetting to blog on occassion.

   Well this time....

   I  am back to tell you about my vacation to Punta Cana. A little island off the Dominican Republic that my family and I stayed for a while,

   First off we had to deal with the ending of Hurricane Sandy over in Punta Cana. So non stop rain most of the time. There were many places to go and enjoy ourselves. The hardest part was understanding the language. You had to know how to speak fluent Spanish. My Spanish wasn't as great as I wanted it to be but I got by ok.

  We stayed at an adult resort and since most of the time there was barely any sun, we decided to stay by the pool side and just lie down on some chairs and relaxed. I evened enjoyed a Mai Ti. Virgin style which means there was no alcohol in it.

  Mostly at night we would catch a show. First night we stayed, we didn't see a show. The second night, we saw a Michael Jackson performance where a guy dressed up as Michael Jackson, and lipsynced the songs but he was great at dancing just like Michael Jackson did those years ago. He performed all the great songs like "Smooth Criminal" "Thriller" "Dangerous" and much more. I knew he was lip syncing but those moves were real.
    The third night there was a circus theme with acrobats that put on quite a show. They did a really great job holding still and there were also ballerinas and men who would stand on swings and it was just amazing. There were clowns there too and they make me laugh a little. There guys were trained professionals.
   The last night before we went back home, they did a Disco theme where people would wear costumes, dance and sing to seventies songs like the Village People, Gloria Gayner's "I will Survive". They even walked off stage during the song, "Celebrate" and tried to get the audience to celebrate as well.

   One day was full rained out there was a bingo game going on and Mom and I joined. There were three games of bingo. Mom won the last one and got a shirt out of it. There were beautiful parrots near the shops mom and I went to and that's why I have picture taken with one.

    Out of all it was a beautiful place to be at. The weather wasn't perfect, but it was a great time to get away from it all but coming back home was even more joyful.

   The dinners we went to were nice as well. We went to a grill restaurant, an Italian restaurant and a seafood place and in the mornings for breakfast we went to a buffet. They had good waffles there; however, when mom and I had lunch there once, there was a man who freaked out over his iPad thinking somebody took it, but his wife had it all along. At least many of the people came over to see if he was ok afterwards.

    And yes, for my mom happiness, there was a casino.

  The flight home was the longest flight we ever experienced because the pilot needed to take another route to get out of Sandy's path for us to get home safe. Even though it was a five to six hour flight, it felt more like a ten hour flight, and I was jet lagged at the leaset by the time we got home, and all of this on my dad's birthday.

     All in all, it was still a great vacation but my mom thinks if we ever take a vacation like that again We'll go again in January in 2014, hopefully to to Saint Barthélemy.
   Till then pray for all of New York and New Jersey to get better through their tough times in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. Caio Bloggers! Till Now.

SchoolHouse Rock

    What was School House Rock?? Well It was an interesting program that strarted around the 1970's and are considered an educational way to help kids to learn about math or history or science anything.   They even had famous ones like "Conjunction Junction" which was learning about conjunctions such as "if" "or" "and" small words that would combined other words together to form a sentence.

   I grew up with these helpful VHS tapes when I was a kid to help study for stuff I needed to know such as what was 9x9 and there was 9 times table trick with a video showing cats playing pool and using the mouse as the ball. They really were into the math, but there most famous one ever was: "I'm just a bill" That one was about how a law was passed and a talking bill was singing about it voiced by Jack Sheldon who is still alive today and doing the same thing on School House Rock.
  Another one that is famous is "Three is the magic number" Bob Dorough wrote and accompanied with his vocals in the video on the subject on the multiplication of 3.

  School House Rock would go by subjects kids would try to learn. They would a Grammar Rock, Multiplication Rock, America Rock and so on and so forth. And now they have the whole video on a 30th anniversary edition and it's pretty neat, or if your kids ever wanna learn something they need to know, School House Rock is always there to help like it did me. On YouTube they have many School House Rock videos, just takes me back to my childhood.

    Even some School House Rock videos have been parodied. "Conjunction Junction" was parodied on Family Guy.  "I'm just a bill" was parodied on The Simpsons, and I think Family Guy. Still will help school kids today like it did me in the 90's and when it started in the 70's. School House Rock is for kids such as Sesame Street is meant to teach preschoolers.

     I always liked and always were enjoy many and various videos of School House Rock, especially "I'm just a Bill" Won't blog again for a while, not till after my vacation and I'll blog about that when I'm back. Till then, Caio Bloggers, and enjoy learning no matter what tool you use. :)

Anti- Bullying month

 

   Not only is October Breast cancer awareness month, it is also Anti-Bullying month. A month where we contribute against bullies that think it a great idea to pick on other people they feel it makes them feel more superior.

    It is up to us and others to stand up to bullies and their evil ways. Bullies are not to be taken lightly. Some people that have been bullied in their life have ended up hurting themselves or worse...


    I have been bullied when I was a little girl in middle school, but that never bugged me much, I never stood up to my bullies, that was the problem. Some people don't have the courage to stand up to their bullies. They feel as if they are bullied for a reason. I think it's wrong in my opinion. There are so many websites that are helping people now that have been bullied and there are support groups in a lot of states that help people who have been bullied in there lives. Even bullying on the web as well or as they call it 'cyber-bullying'

   I felt so sorry for that woman from New York who was picked on by those kids on the bus ride just because they wanted to post it on a tv show called Tosh.O. That's not right, just because they wanted to show their bullying on TV. Well they got their just deserts and that woman got so much support form so many people she even got a free vacation to Disney World which was very nice.

 Recently another woman, an anchor woman was bullied for being overweight and she stood up to herself. Kudos to her for doing something so brave and it made her feel so much better and it also made her feel as if she could do it, someone else who is being picked on can have the courage to stand up and do the right thing.

    It's hard, I agree. I didn't even know I was being bullied, or I was hurting someone, but you never know, but deep down you can tell how pain you can cause and how much it hurts. So it doesn't have to always be on October, but remember, if you see someone being bullied, do something about it. Tell someone... an adult a principal, anyone because if someone doesn't have the courage, and you do, believe me you will have the strength to do what some people are scared of doing...  Caio Bloggers for now will blog again next week, and please stop bullying.

What's your favorite candy bar??

   Been looking through candy bars lately. Knowing you know what is coming soon. My parents aren't big fans of Halloween, but I digress..


     It's candy I'm talking about in this segment. Why??? Because I'm craving a twix bar right now and we don't have one in the house. That's one of my favorite candy bars. Hershey bar (the original milk chocolate bar) is number one on my list. Just love the creaminess of the chocolate in my mouth, it makes it water, and for some reason, I always need a drink of water after eating anything chocolaty.

     My other favorite, of course, is twix. Just the original caramel and cookie crunch covered in chocolate twix. The bar that made George Costanza go insane for because he believed a mechanic stole his twix bar. Not the one with the peanut butter in it. Not a big fan of peanut butter and chocolate mixed in together, so I don't like recces peanut butter cups. Or the recces peaces that made famous for the movie E.T.

    I also like M&M's milk chocolate and the mini's as well. Wanna try the dark chocolate M&M's along with dark Hershey. Trying to get into the taste of dark chocolate these days. They say dark chocolate is not only healthier chocolate but it actually has more taste of a real cocoa bean than any other chocolate, and it's richer in flavor too.


      I also like candy that is not chocolate but gunny. Haribo gummy bears are the best gummy bears ever. I'm not big on gummy worms unless it dipped in chocolate.  Anything gummy sometimes needs to be dipped in chocolate. I just know, if I have to this year, I'll buy some recces peanut butter cups, little Hershey bars and even mini twixes so I can snack on them for Halloween. What's your favorite candy bar? what you buy is might not be what you really get.

    
    Some people think seeing an infomercial such as the 'ninja blender' which we have or the 'pasta boat' or what not of many infomercials you see at night you think to yourself 'it is too good to be true.' Mostly because it is, of course.

     First off, my family is not into seeing infomercials but my uncle, loves percussing them and he's not the only one. There are 'As seen on TV' stores at the mall, there are many ads for 'As seen on TV' products as well advertized in magazines that you can find in best buy or target or Macy's. However, sometimes what you buy is not always what you get. 

     I remember getting a product once called well I forget the name but it was for your hair. It was some sort of scrunchie for your hair that would snap on to you and make these interesting hairstyles, but it didn't work very well for my hair since my hair was too thick and it hurt my head as well as it kept pulling on my hair. 
       
   My uncle liked to purchase As seen on TV products. He just thinks it's fun, and some of the things he's purchased actually do work like the food sealer or 'food saver' as it's called. It does seal very well and suck up the air very fast. I like it, but I don't think we would need it for our house. But we did get the Ninja Blender of course. Mostly because my mom loves to make smoothies. It works very well. It does what it promises to do, crush ice, make quick smoothies with bananas and yogurt and milk and anything you want to add into it. 
    My mom uses it all the time. 


   Sometimes some products, look way too good to be true and not something we would need like that Magic Bullet blender. It doesn't seem to be something we would really need and doesn't seem to be something that is worth to see infomercials for, and the infomercials, well they aren't very entertaining to see. Mostly you have a man or a woman that swear by the product that is being advertized but deep down, they really hate it, I mean really hate it. They even bring out a plate of warm food or finish something that couldn't be done in ten seconds. It had to be done minutes before the infomercial had started. I have a feeling sometimes the product will work and other times, they will pay people to say lies about a product that doesn't really work and suckers will believe it.   And sometimes, kids can be suckered in too for toys and other goodies they would like, and when they get it might not be what they see on TV. Like that episode of Full House where Michele got ripped off when she wanted a toy.


    Sometimes it happens, remember, beware. What you buy is not always going to be what you get. Caio Bloggers! Will blog again in October before my trip.

Freaky Friday 1976 vs 2003

FREAKY FRIDAY: The good version and the bad version.

   I love Freaky Friday, the 1976 version of course. The classics are always the best. Jodie Foster as Annabel and Barbara Harris as Ellen (the mother) trading places. Always better than the 2003 version with Lindsay Lohan.

  First off the one that started it all.  The book. Freaky Friday written by Mary Rodgers who also wrote Hot Spot and From A to Z. Freaky Friday is a story of a mother and daughter that don't understand each other and wonder what it would be like to be one another, and all of a sudden, on a Friday of course, the mother is the daughter and the daughter is the mother and experience wacky things on this one tipicle day.

   The movie versions are somewhat like that, but I feel as if the 1976 version is more understanding and more to the book than the 2003 version because of it having more a mother/daughter connection than it having a misunderstanding connection with this movie, but that might just be me.


   First the good version: Jodi Foster plays Annabel Andrews a thirteen year old girl who doesn't understand her mother, Ellen (portrayed by Barbara Harris). Annabel has a brother name Ben whom she calls 'Ape Face' who is a tidy, neat person who deep down doesn't know that he really likes Annabel but will never know that till she becomes the mother. Ellen, the mother, doesn't understand the daughter much ether. She thinks Annabel has it easy. Getting through life easy, knowing the pressures it will be when she becomes a grown up, or even a mother.
  Soon, when she becomes, Annabel, Annabel feels as if being mom is easy, not knowing what is ahead. Her husband Bill, (played by John Astin from Addams Family) wants her to do everything to get ready for the big "Aquacade" that he has planning for some clients (one of them portrayed by Dick Van Patten), such as ironing his shirts, making dinner and all that.... and when mom is Annabel, she discovers her father's sexy secretary. LOL. My favorite scenes in this movie mostly is the hilarity antics that take place. Mostly the constant doorbell ringing of getting the car done, the carpet cleaners, drapery man, even firing Mrs. Schmuts a heavy drinker of a maid. I just love this movie. I don't know why, but I have loved that movie even since I was little. Even the mother connecting with Boris, (although in the book it's Morris). Boris doesn't go to school because of adenoids. Eventually at the end, they are switched back (after a hilarious chase scene with the cops) they learn a lot about themselves. And at the end, Ben and the Father want to switch places oh boy. If u haven't seen this one, and I know my family has, see it. It's a good watch.


   Now...The Horrid Version: First off, there is no father. He's DEAD!!! Ok, this is a Disney film alright. Seems Lindsay Lohan as Annabel Andrews is not good as when she was little and was in the Parent Trap (I somewhat liked her in that) The mother, portrayed by want to eat a lot of yogurt Jamie Lee Curtis, named Tess 'Not Ellen' is getting Married. She's also an author I guess, publishing a book, and she and Annabel don't get long (guess they are trying to be like the book but not that much). Also Annabel use to have another friend, but now they're enemies and she tortures Annabel to pieces. Annabel also plays in a rock band and her mother hates it when she plays after dark. Her brother's name is Harry (not Ben) She has a Grandfather, and they go to a Chinese restaurant where they still argue and a woman from the restaurant notices, and gives Annabel and Tess both fortune cookies and when they read it, they feel and Earthquake, but nobody else feels it. Next day comes, which is Friday, and Tess and Annabel are now Annabel and Tess. They have to live each others lives, experience what is going on, and Annabel/Tess thinks her enemy wants to be a friend and writes a noted down but eventually says that she was cheating for her to get back she writes 'I'm Stupid' on her test.  Tess/Annabel deep down doesn't like who she is going to marry and eventually by the end.... well you get the picture. The grandpa and son want to trade paces at the end too. My god this one was not even close to the book as it was the classic 1976 movie. I'll stick with the original movie thank you very much.


    Now you know many TV shows have been doing a lot of  'Freaky Friday' switcharoo theme such as the cartoon The Fairly OddParents That have not done one but two episodes about it. But there are many shows and even a movie called the change- up (which is horrible by the way) that want to see what the other person's life is like. Then you learn at the end, what there life is like and how hard it is and maybe you're better where you are now. Now you know the expression "You never know how a person feels unless you're wearing their own shoes" Till then, rent the classic 1976 version and stay away from the other one as far as you can.
