Morgan Freeman is 86 today. On the first day of June, Morgan Freeman (along with many other actors and singers) was born.
He had no idea he had three older siblings until his father died in 1961 from cirrhosis of the liver. His career didn't really start until the 60's. Before that, Morgan Freeman just had a normal life.
Starting in a Listerine commercial, Morgan Freeman's career soon took off. In 1971, PBS got him to star in a groovy show called "The Electric Company." He soon was starting to be noticed to a few people, but his big break would not be until the early 90's. Before then, he was just known as someone that was on Sesame Street wannabe show.
He did star in some movies during the late 70s and 80's, but in 1993, he got one of his huge breaks thanks to Stephen King and a movie called "Shawshank Redemption". The book was about a man accused of murdering his wife and is taken to a prison. He meets Morgan Freeman's character and befriends him. I don't remember the movie much because I was 9 when it came out, but I do know what it's about. Morgan's character tells Tim Robbins character how to escape without being killed.
Before that movie, there was another. One that won best picture called "Driving Miss Daisy" It's about Morgan Freeman being a limo driver for an old woman in the South during the time of the 1950's. We know about what happened in those days. Was it worth a best picture win? In my opinion...no, but it's ok. Not a horrible movie. Ever seen the Green Book? It's kind of the same thing, but in reverse. Both based on a true story.
He has been in other movies like "Seven", "Unforgiven", "Robin Hood: Man in tights.", "Lego Movie"(first time he voiced a character in a cartoon), "Along Came a Spider", "Bruce Almighty", Christopher Nolon's "Batman trilogy" and many more.
Still acting, but not as much as he would like, Morgan Freeman has done a lot in his 86 years of life, and having many fans, like me, wishing him a happy birthday, Morgan Freeman is still an amazing actor to this day. We all wish him the happiest of birthday. 86 to Morgan...is just an age.
