With Billy Joel just turned 72 this week, I like to go over a few of the songs I remember from him. From the time I was a baby to today, and how his music is iconic to many people like me.
The first one i wanna start with is his album Storm Front. Coming out in 1989, it had a few songs that I remember. With songs like; "I go to extremes," "That's not her style", "Storm front" and even my favorite one out of all of them. "We didn't start the fire" Which he talks about everything that has been going on in his life from his birth to that day.
There was another album he had before that one. With a song that was very popular. It was called "Piano man". It's a story about a man and his troubles. I loved it. It was the most requested song ever when he performs in concerts.
I don't know when, but this happened when mom and I went a Billy Joel concert. Everyone was shouting for him to play that song along with a few others.
One of my favorite Billy Joel songs is not even "We didn't start the fire." It's "A Matter of trust" Coming around 1986, before I knew who he was. I just love the music as well as the video I saw of it years ago. He had some great hits as well like: "The Downeaster Alexa", "That's not her Style", "I go to extremes", "It's still rock n roll to me", "You may be right" and much more.
He has changed over the year. Mostly shaving his head bald for his look. His beard is now white, and he has had a wonderful family life. Getting married, having kids, and I think he's now a grandfather. Yes he had marital issues in the past, but I think that's all behind him.
Billy Joel is still going on strong at 72. Still performing at concerts (although, because of COVID, not many) Performing his hit songs, even extending the "We didn't start the fire" to add Trump. LOL. And how did I get on to liking him, well.... when I was little, I would dance to his music with those dancing flowers. Thanks Billy Joel. Thank you
