Well....I'm going to say yes. It does. From the story to the voice acting. At first, I was concerned since I did like the show growing up, even it's annoying catchy theme song. So....what are the changes the new one has?
Well with the new reboot, we get more of a story about Huey, Dewy, and Louie's mother, Della and what happened to her. Donald is seen more, and the adventures they have are very amazing. They bring back old characters like Webbie, her grandmother/maid Mrs. Beakly, Launchpad and many more.
Sir Ducksworth and many more zany characters. They all were in the 1987 version. The voice acting was different too
The late Alan Young was the voice of Scrooge. He was pretty good, can do a fake Scottish accent. Not bad, but now...
Scottish actor, and a Doctor Who, David Tennet took over and he's really good. Might even be better than Alan Young, but that's just because of the voice.
The late Russi Taylor voiced: Huey, Dewy, Louie and even Webbie. She was pretty good.
Now Bobby Monahan, Ben Schwartz and Danny Pudi voice Louie, Dewy and Huey. They're not bad. Are they better than Russi Taylor. I'm gonna say yes and no. Just her voice is so iconic, and these three actors, they're pretty good, but I remember them in other shows
Kate Miccuci voices Webbie in the new Ducktales show. She's really hilarious and talented musician as well. I remember her in Raising Hope and Big Bang theory, but she's a talented voice actress as well
Chuck McCann voiced the butler named Ducksworth. He was ok, but I don't remember the character of Ducktales, but only for being Scrooge's butler.
In the reboot, the character is voiced by David Kaye, but Ducksworth is dead. It seemed in the past 30 years sir Ducksworth has died and is seen mostly as a ghost. He is in some episodes.
Launchpad was voiced by Terry McGovern, who I have never heard of. He would help not only Scrooge, but Darkwing Duck as well. That's all I know about this guy.
Beck Bennet now voices Launchpad, and he is one funny guy. Not only does he voice Launchpad, but he does hilarious impressions that are on a show called SNL. Still on the show, even though we have been on quarantine, Beck is still hilarious.
Well, we know who voices who and well...what is different from the 1987 to the 2017 version?
In the 2017 version, it seems we get more characters as well as story arc. Donald is seen more in this version than the 1987, where he was only in three episodes.
I feel this one is funnier, and I actually have been enjoying the story from.... Finding out the story of where Della had been, shadows taking over Duckberg as well as the world, a monovision, the return of Darkwing Duck and his rival Nega Duck and even finding out that Scrooge isn't always greedy, but mostly wanting to be understood, even when he ends up pushing his family away
We even find out Huey, Dewy and Louie have different personalities. In the 1987, they seem all the same, but in the reboot, it seems Huey is into rules, Dewy is somewhat of a goof who wants to be a tv star and Louie, he wants to have money as well as being next in the line when Scrooge is gone. Out of all of them, Dewy wanted to know what happened to his mother.
Webbie is different as well. Back in 1987, she was more of a whiner and wanting to be with Huey, Dewy and Louie when she is on an adventure. The Webbie of 2017 is different. More adventurous. Wanting to know what's going to happen next. She loves helping out, making friends and saving the day.
She even makes friends with a girl who is pocesed by the shadows that have taken over her body by her own aunt.
Even Launchpad is seen more often, and he is funnier. He can crack a joke at times, and he loves to hang out with Scrooge's nephews (especially Dewy) It seems Launchpad has a better history in the reboot than he did in the past. Especially when it comes to meeting his idol, Darkwing Duck
With this show being on it's third season, it seems to be getting better. I don't remember much of the original, but I do prefer that...if you are a fan of Ducktales, you need to see the reboot.
