Dr. Seuss movies

Image result for Dr. Seuss movies Dr. Seuss holds a place in everyone's hearts, why? Because of the stories he had told us; and the short cartoons that came with it.

Now, we have to talk about....

Dr. Seuss movies.  Are some of them good, or should Dr. Seuss be rolling in his grave so many times that he'd probably reached China by now.

The first one that started it all:

How the Grinch stole Christmas (2000)- Jim Carey portrayed the Grinch in a Ron Howard movie that was the adaptation of the famous Dr. Seuss book. What did I think of it? Not great, but not horrible. Jim Carey did a good job portraying the grinch, and it seemed they tried their best to make it like the book and old cartoons, but it doesn't seem the kind of Grinch story kids would relate too. I loved the small cartoon movie more where there was a song called...

"you're a mean one, mr. Grinch"

On a scale of one to 10: I'd give it a four, not amazing but ok.

The Cat in the hat (2005)- Then came a trainwreck that started the downward spiral that would be what the people that made these movies think is considered appropriate for children. Pop culture refrence, Mike Myers in a scary cat suit, and what are the morals??? I wouldn't remember, maybe because they shove pop culture down your throats. A low for Mike Myers career.

On a scale of one to 10: I'll give it a two, the acting's fine but the story, thumbs down

Horton Hears a who (2008)- This actually took me by a surprise, and in a good way. How and why? Well first off, the animation is different, even if it is computer animated, I think it worked. We didn't wanna see Jim Carey in an elephant suit. There are some downsides, but there little. This one is actually very true to the book in everyway. The voice acting is pretty good; although they do throw in Japanese refrences, Jim Carey acting like a goof, but they are small.

On a scale of one to 10: Eight, yes it's a high one. Out of all these movies, wow, this was actually one of the best ones. Give it a watch

The Lorax (2012)- When I was little, I fell in love with the story of the Lorax. When the cartoon came out, I loved it even more. When this came out.....where's the garbage can? First off, having pop culture referenced in a movie that talks about saving the environment, for the love of god. The voice acting is ok, for the most part, but for the love of god, the morals are not understand well in this movie as it did in the book as well as the cartoon. I just feel dirty seeing this. Danny DeVito does a good job voicing the Lorax, but that's it, everything else seems really stupid. They even had a villain in this movie. There are no villains in the original Lorax. It's just common sense and this movie has none of it.

On a scale from one to 10: 0 just 0. No understanding at all of what Dr. Seuss was trying to get at when he created the Lorax. Stick to the book.

The last one I wanna talk about just came out recently....another version of :

The Grinch (2018)- Nothing like the Jim Carey version. It's computer animated, Benedict Cummerbund voices him, and for me...I find it bland. He tries his best, but I think Jim Carey gave it more of an omph. The colors are hit and miss, It does stick true to the story, somewhat, but not that well. For me this just seemed boring and not needed.

On a scale from one to 10: 2 just a 2. Got nothing negetive or positive to add, just a 2.

I read that they will be doing a computer animated version of Cat in the Hat. Hopefully it'll be better than the Mike Myers version, but I doubt it.

There are some good, and bad in Dr. Seuss, but you like what you like and remember that his memories will always be in the stories he gives us, no matter how old we get.
