Don't get me wrong, a few sequels such as Toy Story
or even finding Nemo aren't that bad. But looking back now, it seems some Pixar movies didn't even need a sequel.
One in particular is Cars.
\ Not considered one of the fan favorites, it's not even that great. It's about cars coming to life. I don't think it even needed one or even two sequels. The first sequel had nothing to do with the movie in franchise. All it focused on was spy cars or something like that. I never saw the movie. They even had a third one as well.
Another sequel that shouldn't have happened was: Monster's University. After the success of Monster's inc. back in the early 2000's. Almost fifteen years later, they come up with a sequel. I feel this was not necessary. It's about Sully and Mike and how they met in Monster's University. They try to become the best scares. It's like the same one all over again with less humans. I just found it useless, and not worth it.
Some sequels do work, but to me, it was better if it never happened.
Wreck it Ralph 2 is one of them. I wasn't a fan of the movie, but for me it didn't need a sequel as well.
What I think is the better Pixar Sequel was and still is (even if there is a forth), Toy Story. Yes I know there is another on the way but the first, second and even third, are amazing. They are considered gems to the Pixar industry, and I think it worked in some odd way.
Another that worked is finding Dory, a sequel to one of my favorites, Finding Nemo. Like the Toy Story sequels, it worked. Even if it had a different story, and it followed another character, unlike the first. Even though Finding Nemo will always be my favorite, finding Dory was very touching.
What movies don't need to have any sequels? I'll explain.
Number one: Ratatouille
* It's about a mouse, ok a rat, that have cooking skills that can help save a failing French restaurant. It ended perfectly as well as having a decent story and great voice acting, I feel that it doesn't need to continue at all.
Number two: Coco
* I broke out in tears after the movie ended. Why in gods name, do you want to make a sequel out of something so brilliant that it perfect the way it is. I read that they might make one, but I hope they change their minds
Number three: Inside Out
*I've seen shorts on Riley's boyfriend right after the movie was over. I think that's good enough. Emotions can get heavy at times and it seems this one is no exception. There would more anger and sadness in people if this was going to have a sequel.
There is another Pixar sequel that came out that I am on the fence on. Incredibles 2. Why? I was never a fan of the first movie. It just wasn't my appeal.
Yes they have good voice actors, the story is fine, it's just not for me. But if people like it, then watch it.
The villain is switched from a male to a female, and it feels like the same thing all over again.
Others that shouldn't have sequels: bugs life, good dinosaur (not worth seeing it anyway), Up, Brave, Wall-e.
The list goes on.
I'll enjoy the great classics, and hope Pixar doesn't screw up with more sequels. (unless it's toy story)
