Cause Earl has to die

I saw this movie called "Waitress" written by the late Adrienne Shelly, about a waitress and her abusive husband named Earl.

Earl is a control freak. He won't let her ride in her own car, take any money or go to a pie baking competition.

So she decides to "get it on" with a doctor (played by Nathan Fillion) once in a while Earl doesn't know what's going on.
She tries running away, soon admitting she is pregnant.
Hiding money as best as she can, but soon he finds it and lies, whispering in her baby book how she got the crib and a camera.

If I were her, I would have the courage to step up to him, or kill him like that Dixie Chick song "Goodbye Earl" where it's about an abused woman.

Why are all abusive men named "Earl" it's seems like a cursed name to me. In the song a woman is abused by "Earl" and she and her friend decide to kill Earl.

Earl doesn't seem like a bad name, but to me, it's how the person was raised.

Eventually, after having the baby she dumps him and wins the bake off.

The movie was dedicated to the writer Adrienne Shelly who was found dead but it was a homicide. Long story short, they found the person that did it.

I love the movie and it does show the side of a person that knows even if you are in an abusive relationship, it doesn't mean you don't have to stay in it.

Keri Russell did an amazing job as the lead and the late Andy Griffith was great as old Joe. I read that Keri Russell was pregnant at the time of the movie so she really did have the belly.

In the words of her character Jenna: "Dear Baby: I hope someday somebody wants to hold you for 20 minutes straight and that's all they do. They don't pull away. They don't look at your face. They don't try to kiss you. All they do is wrap you up in their arms and hold on tight, without an ounce of selfishness to it."
