Well it's been 40 years since SNL had started their first skit in October of 1975.
I just can't believe it's been 40 years. I'm already 30, and it's amazing how time flies. Tonight they are having a 40th anniversary special.
They're bringing back all the old favorites from the beginning like Chevy Chase, Bill Murray, Eddie Murphy, Jane Curtin... So many to name, so much on the list and it's one night only.
I remember many famous sketches like "Celebrity Jeopardy" where Will Ferrell would be Alek Trebeck and he would be harassed by Darrel Hammond was always Sean Connery and I remember numerous times that some celebrates were dumb that they would make themselves look stupid in front of Trebeck. And when Ferrell was leaving SNL the real Trebeck came on and Sean Connery still gave them a hard time. LOL.
There are great memorable skits that they will be talking about tonight and some I might not remember, but one I will remember forever starred Christopher Walken and "MORE COWBELL" There was a fake blue oyster cult band and Will Ferrell would hold a cowbell in his hand and play constantly, pleasing Christopher Walken.
There were very memorable hosts on the show but Christopher Walken, Alec Baldwin, Steve Martin and Justin Timberlake I think are the ones I remember most in the times I've Seen SNL (so has John Goodman).
Now, tonight, there are going to be mounds of memories, lots of talk and so many memorable clips and I gotta point out, some of them are gone.
Jan Hooks, Phil Hartman, Chris Farley, Gilda Radner, John Belushi so many of the greats that past away that never be forgotten. But I know. They will never be forgotten through clips.
Enjoy the 40 years of memories, and happiness, till then Happy 40th anniversary SNL, even the new guys aren't half bad. But I think I prefer the originals. Ciao bloggers
