Remember Motels?

Remember the days when you would go on long vacation drives and had to stay in a motel or hotel? I remember those days, but think about it....do any of us remember staying in one at all? I mean, motels and hotels are different.

First off, Hotels are considered bigger and more roomier. The service could be friendlier as well, not sure about that though. But with motels...they tend to be on the cheaper side. Cheaper in price, smaller space, not much except for a bed, and maybe a bathroom.

But how clean are motels? I mean really.... some of them claim to be clean, but for some people, they would take black light to find out for themselves. Sometimes motel staff would miss a few things, like if some has (ahem) sex, the motel staff won't clean up the stain. Ewe.

There have been posts of people showing how disgusting their motels are. From gross beds, to uncleanliness everywhere. Why? Is it because some motel workers don't care about their job, or is it because they don't have the money for the cleaning material? Nobody knows.

Clean motels don't come very often. But if you find one, you will be surprised. How nice the beds are made, how clean the bathroom is and much more. It seems some motels do have dignity for their own place and care about their residents.

Some motels are considered famous like Motel 6 or a Clown Motel near Las Vegas, Nevada. There's also a Motel around Route 66/ Another, more famous motel on Route 66 is called Blue Swallow. Some Motels are seen in movies and tv shows, but some are also known for being creepy

It's true. If you have a fear of clowns, stay away from this Motel. They have a huge collection of clowns that would scare anyone once they walked in the motel. If you have a massive fear a clowns, word of warning...this is not the motel for you. PLUS: It's near a graveyard which makes it super creepy.

Remember Super 8 or Motel 6 motels. I don't think they were in competition with each other, but their numbers had something to do with it like...they stay open till a certain time, or there used to be a certain number of rooms. I don't know.

Motels aren't as different as they used to be a long time ago. It seems they aren't going anywhere. Although not as big as Hotels, they are still seen around. People will still go to them; there are some famous ones that people will go to, but believe me...motels will still be there when we need them

turkey day- poem

The juicy turkey waits at the table

our hunger strikes

as we wonder

will this Thanksgiving be...

the best

or the worst

mistakes can be made,

burnt turkies,

lumpy gravy,

the oven on fire

the cornucopia on the table,

as we wait for family,

or stay at home,

and be with family

the memories we share with one another,

as we feel the happiness,

we don't feel everyday,

What does it mean,

does it mean turkey,

specials,

the stuffing

It means being together,

with the ones you love,

around the table,

saying grace,

praying for a better tomorrow

Turkey is the number one thing on Thanksgiving,

but it isn't the most important thing,

be there for your family,

more than ever

Family is important,

as well as the food,

scarf down your turkey,

mashed potato,

pie,

whatever you made,

and remember,

what's really important,

family

Thanksgiving movies and tv specials

Well it's that time of year again, Even with COVID still around, it doesn't mean we can't celebrate.

Yes, there will be turkey and stuffing and all the fix ins; some families will be together, and some won't. But we'll always have our memorable movies and tv specials. Here are some.

There were many episodes of Friends that involved Thanksgiving, but the most memorable one is where they all play football. The boys vs the girl which end with Ross having his nose broken and Monica can be very competitive. I think it was the same episode where Monica placed the turkey on her head, but I'm not sure. This is the Thanksgiving episode I remember the most.

My father and I love to hear this song every year called "Alice's Restaurant."  A song performed by Arto Guthrie. Every year, he would talk about the same thing and it involved him being arrested as he and his friends try to get Alice's restaurant

Some movies involve people going home to a good thanksgiving meal. Planes, Trains and Automobiles is that premise. Steve Martin and the late John Candy team up in a buddy comedy which involves Steve's character trying to get home to his family, but it seems...the snow makes it difficult for him to go back to Chicago. He finds out that a friendship starts to grow when he meets John Candy. This movie's very memorable and worth the watch around Thanksgiving.

Holly Hunter plays the lead in this movie directed by Jodie Foster called Home for the Holidays. Holly plays a woman who has a streak of bad luck and goes back to her family for Thanksgiving. I don't remember much of this movie, but it is funny.

Even though Addams Family Value is more of a Halloween movie, they do throw Thanksgiving in there when Wednesday and Pugsly are sent to a summer camp. The manager of the camp creates a play that is about the first Thanksgiving. With Wednesday playing Pocahontas, she decides to add her own twist ending to escape and save her uncle from Joan Cusack

A Charlie's Brown Thanksgiving is a really good Charlie Brown movie. Not as great as "Charlie Brown Christmas." or "The Great Pumpkin" it's still memorable. Charlie Brown tries to give a feast for his friends. Mostly ending up with Popcorn and toast. Peppermint Patty isn't happy with it, but Linus tells a brilliant story that shows the true meaning of Thanksgiving which has nothing to do with the food. It is about being together. And we need togetherness more now than ever.

Garfield Thanksgiving is another memorable Thanksgiving special where Jon tries to impress Liz with a Thanksgiving feast he created. Even if Garfield tries to ruin it, it goes off pretty well. I don't remember this one much, but it does have a great message. Knowing that food is only half of what Thanksgiving means. Giving to someone that needs it more, and Garfield realizes that he tries to put his selfish gluttony behind him.

Rocky the movie. The first one, the best one. Why is this in the Thanksgiving Movie specials? Well the match takes place on Thanksgiving day. That's all there is to it. It's one of the best Rocky movies ever and it's worth seeing while you're carving a turkey.

This special Simpson episode shows that Bart is selfish. He destroys Lisa's project that she was working on as the center peace for Thanksgiving. He runs away as the Simpsons Thanksgiving is practically ruined. Soon Bart realizes what he did was wrong and hurt his sister's feelings for doing something bad for the turkey. He's on the room as he apologizes to Lisa and well...they do have their Thanksgiving, a little differently.

Rugrats are pretty interesting as well. Having a live turkey show up and Tommy wants to save him from being eaten. I vaguely remember this episode, but all I remember is seeing the grown ups wanting to find a turkey after grandpa gets a live one by mistake. They even are fighting over football games.

The last one I'll talk about was an episode of Big Bang Theory where Howard invites his friends to Thanksgiving. Penny reveals that she was in Vegas and married her ex boyfriend by mistake in a wedding chapel. Leonard is not happy with this so Penny decides to get an annulment. Sheldon bonds with Bernadette's father by drinking beer and watching Football, as well as insulting Howard.

There are a lot of Movies and Specials to watch, but remember what Thanksgiving is really about. Not the food or the tv specials, it's about being with your family; and we need it more than ever during this difficult time. God bless you all and have a Happy Holiday season.

Fading pizzerias

Have you ever notices not many pizzerias are around much as they used to be? Is it because of COVID? Who knows. But here are some pizzerias are are starting to fade out of existence

Here is some of the pizzerias that are doomed to fail soon or later, and the reasons why.

Pizza Hut- A pizzeria that was very popular back in the 70's when all the sit down restaurants were all the rage. But now, people don't wanna sit down at a pizzeria and get their food, they just wanna eat and go on with their lives.

Pizza Hut isn't gone, but it did give us the famous pan style pizza as well as stuffed crust as well. They even had other variations of pizza styles. They tried to become more artisan style recently, but it didn't work out. So...what will be of Pizza Hut's future? I don't know. I guess...with me not eating there anymore, I wouldn't know.

Cici's- There aren't many of them around here. They are considered an all-you-can-eat style restaurant, but with Covid hitting hard, they aren't seen as a go to place to eat. I don't think there is one near my town at all. You get the pizzas either hot or cold, and it seems sometimes, being under heat lamp for so long, they aren't really that good.

Chuck E Cheese- I talked about this one before. The pizza that got a lot of press for seeing if the pizzas were really cooked, or just not. Now, not many people are going into a Chuck E Cheese because it's considered an active place for children to play in. They even got rid of those horrifying animatronics for good

Little Caesars- The pizzeria that says their name twice...well they might be gone! Gone! before you know it. Their hot n ready deals are ok, but it seems they've been struggling to keep their doors open. Their crazy bread might keep them alive...but for how long? Back in the 90's their ads were pretty cool as they tried to lure their customers in with their crazy deals.

Now...it doesn't seem to work. Yeah, they still have commercials, but they aren't memorable as they used to be.

Papa John's- Better ingredients; raciest owner....Papa Johns. It's true. The huge fall of this chain is what happened to the owner. It seems, after a racist comment he made, let's just say; we don't see him in commercials anymore. He was even pulled from making ads.

Shaq replaced him in the ads after the incident so they couldn't get any negative publicity. Their pizza's...egh!

Papa Murphy's- Even take-n-bake pizzas are in danger of going extinct. I guess with COVID- people don't want to make take-n-bakes anymore. They either order or make their own. But I think this was happening before.

Papa Murphy isn't popular around here, but it seems...it might fade into existence before we know it.

Don't be sad, it doesn't mean that all pizza is gone. You can still make your own, or you can find another pizzeria that is still in business. Not all of the above are gone. They are still here, but they might not be for long. So enjoy any pizza, any way, any style, any variation...any day.

Pizza will always be here to stay.

Famous Meme

Everybody knows what a meme is. It's making fun of one picture that is popular with the internet.

They would put interesting captions over it saying a joke or a funny thing just to make everyone laugh. But which ones are the more meaningful ones? Ones that we remember over and over.

Like the boy making a yes movement using his fist showing success. Who is that boy? Well, he's no longer a little kid anymore. HIs name is Sam Griner and he is now 13 years old. His 'success meme was used in a lot of ads and his mom was the one that took the picture.

This meme is called the change my mind meme which there is a poster that would people would use to change it. The poster would be different every time. It would be for hilarious purposes and well...it's not known that well, but I guess once in a while...the sign will change it's own mind.

This meme I call the goosebumps girl meme where a young lady with pigtails is holding a bunch of Goosebumps books (I guess this picture was taken back in the 90's) and she looks pretty happy. Where is this young lady now? Well, she did change her look and is no longer the nerdy girl in the picture, but will always be remembered for her love of Goosebumps.

The Narrow eye Fry meme. A meme started out of a show called "Futurama" Where Fry is narrowing his eyes to signify that something isn't right. This was pretty popular after the episode aired. I forgot the name of it. Now, there have been more memes coming from tv show and movies

The I don't always drink beer meme. I think this came from a super bowl ad years ago. Where a man is talking about a certain beer, forget which one, explaining that he doesn't always drink it. Well...the internet went with amazed of memes for this one. Why, because what he was quoting was so memorable, just replace what he said after 'I don't always drink beer'

Kermit sipping tea meme. This was from a Lipton tea ad when the Muppets were sponsoring Lipton at the time. Kermit is seen sipping on tea and well...you know what happened next. Kermit meme exploded. All with him sipping on Lipton's iced tea.

The Roll Safe guy meme. What is this meme? Where a guy uses his finger and tapped his bring signaling a bright idea. Where is he now, and what is his name? His name is Kayode Ewumi. This meme came from a documentary short called "Hood Documentary" He's doing ok now, and he vaguely remembers doing that move.

The World Problem meme which came from an Italian Actress named Silvia Botini. This meme was used to signify a sad thing like world problems or...god knows what. She doesn't remember the meme much, but she doesn't mind being remembered for it.

Winter is coming meme. Ever seem Game of Thrones? Well this John Snow meme will be in your mind for a long time; where John Snow is to quote, "Brace yourself, winter is coming." That meme is forever known to be mocked with anything after the words Brace yourself. For me...it would be "Brace yourself, My birthday's coming"

The "Take my money," Fry meme. Another Futurama meme where Fry takes money out and shouts, "Take my money." The internet went wild with this one too. Just like the Squinty eyes Fry meme, this one took to the internet like wildfire. I guess, we all love to give away our money for anything.

This isn't much of a meme, but it is considered pretty popular on the internet. It's called: The Plank meme. Where people lie down still as a plank and just do nothing. It's weird and strange, but a lot of people did just to get popular on the internet.

The Scumbag Steve meme One is about a young man that looks like a scumbag. Now, this man just laughs at the meme no believing it would become so famous. Dressing up like a scumbag and now. Now, he is a father and doing pretty well for himself back in England.

The most popular one of all was....

Grumpy Cat meme. Everyone knows who he is and use him in memes all the time. Sadly this cat is no longer with us, and another has take its place. Yet nobody will stop using the original to crate new memes. Who comes up with this stuff? That cat made it's owners a lot of money ever since it grazed the fame of the internet.

New Grumpy Cats. No memes yet, but this new cat is named Meow, Meow. There is another one (second image) named Kitzia. Both cats are considered the Grumpy Cats replacements. Both haven't gotten into the meme industry yet, but there's still time. Yet the original Grumpy Cat will always be the meme cat that we know and love today.

Memes come and memes go. People want to be on the internet so badly these days, yet...you never know what fame will do to you, and you will never feel the same.
