Well, this is the better half of it. My top ten favorite episodes of "The Simpsons"
(This only my opinion based. I will explain why I think they are considered the best)
10. The Springfield Connection (6th season)- This is ok. Not one of the worst of Marge Simpsons many jobs. She wants to have an exciting life, and after tacking Snake in a mugging, she decides to become a cop. Not knowing how much pressure it takes to be one, she even has to arrest Homer, then save him. Why is this episode one of the best. I find it very interesting that Marge has a dark side, which means she can help people, even if it means getting hurt along the way. Not a bad episode for the sixth season.
9. Lisa the Vegetarian (7th season)- This episode marks something new to one of the characters, including a guest of Paul McCartney and his late wife Linda. Paul said that he would only do this episode if Lisa becomes a vegetarian for the rest of the series. Lisa decides to become a vegetarian after petting a lamb, Homer throws a barbecue and let's say, Lisa is not happy. She gets great advice from Paul, Linda and Apu that you can be a vegetarian without judging other people and their beliefs. This is one of my favorite "Beatle" episodes. Good job, Paul.
8. The day the Violence died (7th season)- This episode has to do with Itchy and Scratchy. When Bart meets the actual creator of Itchy (voiced by Kirk Douglas) he realizes that the real creator of Itchy and Scratchy stole the idea from the actual creator. Itchy and Scratchy studios are bankrupt and Bart feels to blame. However, something strange happens in the end. It turns out someone else found that there was another rip off that was from the post office. The person that found it wasn't Bart or Lisa but Tracey Ulman look a like's of Bart and Lisa. This is a pretty funny episode. A lot of good lines, a lot of great jokes, and a creepy ending. Thumbs up.
7. Lisa's Substitute (2nd season)- Dustin Hoffman guest stars as Lisa's substitute teacher. She falls in love with him, but is crushed when her original teacher comes back. She had a strong connection with him, and it could only end in the words: "You are Lisa Simpson". They even add in a little joke from a Dustin Hoffman movie where Mrs. Krabapple tries to seduce him. Like the late Anne Bancroft did to Dustin Hoffman. He was credited with a different name, but this episode touched my heart.
6. The Springfield Files (8th Season)- Wanted to mix one show with another? Many shows do that. One being X-files. When Homer discovers an alien, after drinking late at night, no one believes him. David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson guest star as their X-File counterparts, Mulder and Scully, wondering if there was something out in Springfield. Well....it turns out there wasn't. Mr. Burns glows late at night and goes through some tests every Friday Night to live another decade, but it's still a good episode, and the late Leonard Nimoy hosts and tries to find out himself if there is something out there.
5. In Marge we trust (8th Season)- This episode involves mostly a few people. Why is this number five? I actually thought it was really good. Reverend Lovejoy feels empty. Marge helps him becoming the listen lady as she learns the truth on why Reverend Lovejoy was not his true self. It seemed a lot of calls from Flanders made him a non-believer. When Flanders is missing, Marge and Lovejoy go to find him. After saving him at a zoo, Lovejoy regains his faith once again. This is a pretty good episode, not one of the best, but it is worth being in the top ten.
4. Barthood (27th Season)- This will be the only episode in the later seasons I will put in this list. Why is it here? Well I mentioned before that many episodes of the Simpsons now a days are getting stale. This one surprised me. Never seeing the movie "Boyhood" this actually shows the life of Bart Simpson from when he was a little kid to a full grown adult. It was one of the best that they did of that season. I loved it very much, heartwarming and it takes a deep look into finding out Bart is intelligent and smart, only if he implied himself. Which he does at the end thanks to his sister. Worth the watch.
3. Mom and Pop art (10th Season)- This is the only episode from this season I found worth the watch. It's about Homer finding his creative self after a mishap with a barbecue. Marge his been known for being an artist and feels jealous of Homer. He gets an art show, but fails to impress anyone. However, he decided to do one fore thing, flood Springfield. Not knowing if it worked, he is liked once more, soon admitting to Marge that he was never and artist. This was a pretty decent episode. I'm an artist, even if I'm not a painter, I feeling writing is my style of art, and we do learn and get to see most paintings from artists come to life in Homer's dream.
2. I love Lisa (4th Season)- One of the best Ralph Wiggum episodes ever. We find out a lot about him. That he's caring, his heart can break, and feelings can get hurt. When Lisa tries to be friends with him (after not getting a Valentine's day card from anyone) Lisa and him become more than friends. However, it's short lived after a Krusty special she reveals her true feelings, breaking his heart. What amazed me is that they were doing a "president's day" theme play and Ralph was casted as George Washington. He was very good, and made everyone believe his amazing acting. At the end, Lisa apologizes and gives him another card that says..."Let's bee friends" I thought it was an amazing episode and one of my top favorites of the forth season.
Before I get to my number one, here are my honorable mentions that didn't make the top ten:
*Who shot Mr. Burns (season six and seven)- Burns is shot somebody did it, playing from the show Dallas, someone tried to kill Burns
* Krusty gets Kancelled (season four)- A new act has come to Springfield, and without warning, Krusty gets Kancelled he decides to bring celebrities to another show to get back on top [RIP LUKE PERRY]
*22 short films about Springfield (season seven)- so many stores, too little times, it's not in my top ten but it's still worth the watch.
* A star is Burns (season six)- Springfield holds a film festival, Mr. Burns tries to cheat, Barney has an amazing video and it's up to Homer to see if it is truly the winning video.
*Make room for Lisa (season ten)- Lisa feels that Homer doesn't care about her. They go through all these lengths to find a connection, when Lisa realizes she might have been hard on her own father.
So, what's number one? What do I think is the best Simpson episode ever? Well...here it is.
1.Bart gets an F (2nd Season)- This one gets me every time. Not only is it the begging of the second season, but this is where it all started for me. Yes the first season had a few episodes, but for this one, it shows a side of the Simpsons that can be considered heartwarming as well as charming. Bart is sad because is he going to be held back. (Although he's been in fourth grade for almost 29 to 30 years now) but then, it seems Bart was really afraid, and feared being held back. He tries his hardest, even praying to god. Getting a snow day out of it, and studying as hard as he can. He takes a test, but fails. He starts to cry and Mrs. Krabapple feels that he did his best. Soon, he tells her that he tried his hardest and it was still not good enough. Soon he even reveals what he had learn, giving a second chance and getting a D.
This has to be not only heartwarming, but memorable. The start of a great show, which we know this is a different side of Bart that cares and wants to learn. This is why this is my number one.
There are some good episodes and bad ones, but these episodes are the ones to watch. The ones that I think make the Simpsons amazing, and worth the watch. There are some other episodes that are as good, but not as great as these top ten.
