What happened to Libraries?

 Remember those?  A library in your school, your cities? It seems that with the rise of e-books and Amazon, there aren't as many as there used to be.


  Libraries were around since 2600 BC. The earliest for of writing and libraries were around when the first clay stone was created with writing on it.



   Decades later, during the Roman empire of 300 AD, there were over 28 public libraries, and now...

     who knows. Libraries were popular back in the day of the Roman gods as well, as back in the 1940's and 50's where most people would be found studying in a library. Before the internet, this is where we get most of our facts, and libraries were popping up almost everywhere in the US. There are famous ones that our still there, but it seemed that not too many people are coming into it, unless they need to look up something that they can't over the internet or Wikipedia.
Children would get homework information as they stare into books filled with facts on the world war. History typed up in white sheets of paper bound together.

  There are even National Libraries that are famous, not just for books, but for looks as well.


The National Central Library, established in 1714, is in Florence Italy. Famous for not only the books, but as well as a flood that damaged one third of the libraries holdings.

Another famous Library is the British Library, one of the largest in the world in London.

         The National Library was discovered by John Lee in the year 1556. Having a visionary plan to make Libraries helpful for readers so they wouldn't have to create their own stories just to read them.

Today, there are libraries, but not many as they're used to be.  I used to love getting a library card when I was little. I still have it, but I haven't been in the library for a lonnnnnngggg time. I even seen DVD's as well as books, even cassette tapes being in the library book on tapes as they call it.

     What will the future be for libraries? will they all be gone? Will they vanish like CD's, cassette tapes and even Blockbuster Video? God only knows. But I think for now, even though there aren't many libraries, they're are still some huge ones that are big. State Library of Pennsylvania is one of them.

 Located in Harrisburg, the SLoP is one of the biggest Libraries of Pennsylvania. And there are other popular libraries, such as:

New York State Library, 

Oregon State Library,

Library of Virginia and many more.

I'm guessing, libraries might be here to stay, but they aren't as popular as they were back in the 50's or 60's. Some Libraries even have Starbucks inside as well as muffins and even a small place where children can listen to others read stories.

I feel the power of reading is what's keeping libraries as well as books, alive, even though there aren't many, and they aren't as popular as staying at home and reading a book, or e-books, I feel Libraries are here to last. 

 

Useless TV shows of yesteryear

  Do you have a tv show from the eighties or nineties that was HORRIBLE????? Just pick one if you can.

   I'll give you my reasonings on why these tv shows, did not last past the first season. Some did, but didn't last the second.



  Number one:
Joanie loves Chachi- Do you love Happy days? Do you love it when a movie called Dodgeball mocks this one. Joanie and Chachi star the late Erin Moran and Scott Baiao. Only lasting two seasons, this was not one worth the watch. Not many people even liked it, not fans of Happy Days. It was not worth the watch for so many reasons. Scott Baiao couldn't stand it and neither could us. Thumbs down.


Number two:


    Herman's Head- Ever wanted to have small people give small decisions inside a man's head? Wanted that at all? This man, named Herman of course, has four little jiminy crickets inside his head that control his emotions. I've only seen one or two episodes and deemed it unfunny. I didn't care for it, it seemed too predictable on what Herman's situation would be, and the actor that played Herman, William Ragsdale, thank god he's doing better things, and is still acting. Only lasting 72 episodes, failure!


Number three:


  Life with Lucy- (Sorry my GIF is from an 'I love Lucy' show) I have never seen a needed comedy to go so bad. I loved 'I love Lucy' and this, doesn't seem like the Lucy I fell in love with. Only having 13 episodes, it was the lowest rated Lucille Bale Comedy. She died a couple of months after Life with Lucy was cut. I don't think this was the way Lucy wanted to go, but it seemed it happened so fast, I knew it would be a failure. Stick to the classic Lucy. That is funny.


Number four:



{NO PICRUE} Baby Bob- OMG!!! I heard of this show. It was as if talking babies were the new norm. Voiced by Kevin Hudson Campbell, the baby is supposed to communicate with the parents. I'd rather talk to Stewie from family guy than this brat. Only lasting a season or two, the network thought to pull the plug on the baby and the actors of the show. Because of it, those talking babies from the super bowl commercial became famous. OMG indeed.



Number five:


 {NO PICTURE} Homeboys in Outer space-  Drenched in the 90's, two men want to be Han Solos, ok you can get the picture how this is stupid. I don't know who thought of this or why, but thank you god to whoever pulled the plug on this stinker. Only lasting 21 episodes you can see why this short lived sitcom remains in the garbage heap. It's stunk.



Number six:


 {NO PICTURE}  Heil Honey, I'm Home-  Yes this was a show, and it was about Hitler in a comedy routine. Back in 1990, some psychopath decided to make Hitler a comedy star with this. The plot of the show was about a prime minister visiting Hitler and his wife at their house, and they have to do everything to make the dinner special. What numb nut thought this was a brilliant idea??? Thank god they pulled the plug after the second episode.



Number seven:
Manimal- It's as if they wanted to destroy someone's career by turning the main character into the human fly. Jeff Goldblum can get away with it, but this, man morphing into any animal?? I don't see that making it a good tv series. Only lasting eight episodes in 1983, this show wasn't worth the watch. I'd rather morph into an interesting animal than see this.



Number eight:


Father of the Pride- If you put the DreamWorks movie,  Madagascar; have John Goodman voice the lead and having nothing to do with Madagascar??? I can tell they just wanted more money. This show only lasted one season. A failure from the beginning. I could feel the sadness in the room when someone mentions Siegfried and Roy. I'd rather see 'Shrek the Halls' over this any day or even  Nickelodeon's Penguins of Madagascar. At least that show lasted THREE seasons. Thumbs down.




before I mention the worst show that only lasted one to maybe a few episodes, here are some honories,


  Small Wonder- a story about a man that creates a girl robot as her daughter. Canned laughter everywhere as well as, not worth it. I can feel the actress that played the girl robot crying over doing the roll.
  Saved by the bell: THE NEW CLASS- Saved by the bell was actually not a bad show, wasn't a fan though, but would gladly see any of the old episodes over this. It makes all the actors from Saved by the bell, sad over being in this train wreck. (music to commercial)
  Rob- Rob Schneider can be a disease to some people, like Adam Sandler's crappy movies. He also wanted to have a show based on his life, comedy and stupid. Didn't last after ONE SEASON. Sorry Rob, not for you.
 Unhappily ever after- It's the 2000's version of 'Married with Children' Although, unlike that, this is a new low. NOT FUNNY! Not worth it and didn't last.
 Dads- Back in the mid 2000's, there was a show called Mom and Dads. Different premise and were supposed to be funny... While mom succeeded Dads, failed to deliver. Was cancelled after the first season.
That 80's show- Another wannabe hit. Tried to be the other version of that 70's show, However nobody found it funny. Sadly the actors didn't succeed in making any good 80s references as well as being dry on the humor. Was benched.



OK THE WORST OF THE WORST.

   Every decade, either from the 70's, 80's or 90's, seemed to have hits and misses when it comes to TV. I do watch television once in a while and the history says that this is not even mentioning, THE WORST OF THEM ALL.....




                           CAVEMEN- this came out at the popularity of those Geico commercials featuring Cavemen. They were funny at first, but then, it started to get annoying. What was worse, some dumb ass decided to make a TV show about it. I hope he's in line for the guillotine. Nobody loved it, they thought it was a long Geico TV show. Only lasting 13 episodes (thank you god) I can tell this was a new low for TV series.



It doesn't mean all of these are bad, just weren't good ideas, and someday, there will be a memorial for all the horrible tv shows that only lasted: one to two seasons or one to two episodes. Till then, be careful of what you watch. Not every TV show will last.

Top 10 BEST Simpson characters

                  Last time I told you my least favorite characters of the show the Simpsons. This time, these ten are my favorite. Why? I'll give you my reasonings.

  10. GOD- his face is never seen. He has five fingers, a booming voice and he controls the citizens of Springfield. Homer has seen him many times, mostly when he's down in the dumps, even God is not a fan of Flanders. Why do I like him? well the reason is, he's very opinionated as well as the only Springfield Character to have FIVE fingers. Pretty good. Not bad, but judgmental, even almost ready to bring on the apocalypse if he wants to.


9. CARL CARLSON- One of my top ten favorites, and one of Homer's best friends next to Lenny. He has a back story, is more in touch with his own feelings and thinks that his own family, although adopted, might be kicked out of Iceland, where he was from. Not much is known about him till the later seasons. Why I like him more than Lenny? I guess, his back story. Knowing he has heart and is smarter than bother Homer and Lenny combined. I'd say not a bad citizen of Springfield.



8. KANG and KODOS- Aliens that invade Springfield. Mostly around Halloween you could see them. Kang sounds like Principal Skinner while Kodos sounds more like Homer. They have plans to plot the invasion of the world. They first time they are seen, they had another Alien friend (voiced by James Earl Jones) and Lisa thinks that they were going to eat them. Even one later episode, they would eat one of the Simpson family, turning out to be Homer. Never hurts to see them on a Halloween episode once in a while.


7. SUPERITENDANT CHALMERS- Him over Skinner? yes, why though? I find him somewhat enjoyable to have around. He even likes to torment Skinner by, yelling his name, firing him, or even dating Skinner's mother. I guess, when you put to it, he always enters the room shouting, 'SKINNER!' Funny yes, but at the same time, we always wondered if there would be more character development of him. Soon, he ends helping Bart pay attention in class by talking about Roosevelt. I think he's a good character, not great or developed much, but time des tell.

6. FAT TONY- If you are a fan of the Sopranos, then you would understand this character. Although he came around the third season, Fat Tony is a mob boss. Going after anyone for money and even drugs, at some times. Voiced by Joe Mantega, Fat Tony is seen more time in later seasons because, I believe Springfield needed him the same way they needed Sideshow Bob. Seen mostly in jail, and has a son who wants to be a chef. Even Fat Tony can't die, and if he did, another Tony would take his place.

5. KENT BROCKMAN- News anchor of Springfield, he would cover mostly anything that would be oblivious to the town, yet every news he covers isn't really 'news worthy' Homer helps him when he ends up getting fired, is republican (I think) and covers every breaking story. Why do I like him? He's a charming character, like having around and also, unlike Arnie Pie, he isn't annoying. Even if he isn't on, he won't go on without his cheese Danish. Not a bad character, helpful in some episodes, but not all.

4. MOE SYZSLAK- Suicidal character, but yet funny. Tries to be happy, but always ends up depressed. He is hilarious in a tragic side. He owns a bar, changed his appearance, had a fake drink named after himself, and usually, from time to time, asks Homer for help or advice. He even tries to get a girl, succeeding in some and other times failing. He seems like the tragic bartender that you feel sorry for. No joke. Other times, it seems as if there's a reason for his pain and suffering. Either way, he's entertaining to watch, even if he's the sad bartending clown of Springfield
3.MRS. KRABAPPEL- Sadly the voice actress of the is character passed away recently, and so did Mrs. Krabapple. She was Bart's teacher, lonely, sad, and even at times found love. She had an on off relationship with Skinner, but it didn't work out. She fell in love with Flanders, and well....it ended in tragedy. We don't know if the character died, or just retired, but she isn't coming back. No one can replace Marcia Wallace. Why did I like her? She knew how to help Bart in anyway possible, she has character unlike Lisa's teacher and even at times, she can be depressed, and fall in love many times, even once had feelings for Bart. I miss her yes, but she was more developed and an mazing teacher as well.

2. SIDESHOW MEL- After Sideshow Bob was arrested, came Sideshow Melvin Van Horne. The most intelligent character, outside of Lisa Simpson, he had a sad past and how he became Krusty's sidekick, tried to hide the tragedy within him. I like him as much as Krusty. Both equally actually, but I chose him because, unlike Krusty, he too has a backstory of how his journey to being a children's performer, and having a bone in his hair. He even explained to his Lisa, his troubled past. I enjoy this character more than Sideshow Bob. He's entertaining, heart felt, intelligent and even at times when Krusty is embarrassing him, he tries to hide it in the shadows.

Who is the best? Who has beaten all these characters as being number one in my heart (excluding Homer and Bart since they are my number two) my favorite character ever is:




1. RALPH WIGGUM- I love him. Lisa's supposed boyfriend, becomes friends with Bart, but why do I love this child who seems to be failing English, or wonders why girls run from him as he pees his pants? There is no reason. I think he's enjoyable, even would be able to run for presidency as both a Republican and Democrat. I enjoy every minute of his on screen time. Ralph makes me smile, even if he isn't seen much, just hearing his voice (thank you Nancy Cartwright) just fills me with happiness. Ralph can be the best Springfield character known to existence. His father might be number 12 on my best character list. Somewhat like his father, he is the most enjoyable character, and makes Homer and Bart my number two.
    I always was a Ralph Wiggum fan, and always will be.


If I had to do a top twenty: My results would be 11.Nelson Muntz, 12. Chief Wiggum 13. Judge Snyder 14. Principal Skinner 15.Santa's little helper 16.Agnus Skinner 17.Milhouse Van Houten 18.Jimbo Jones 19.Groundskeeper Willie 20.Krusty the Clown

  It goes on from there. But they didn't make my top ten, or number one.

Ralph Wiggum got that position for a reason. He is AMAZING!!!!!!!

Top 10 WORST Simpsons characters

  Why only 10? Well there are more, not a lot but this is why some characters on the Simpsons should never have been created. Excluding the Simpson family, this is
my list,
 of the worst characters on the show.




10: ROD FLANDERS- Who is he and why is he on the list? First off he's the oldest son of Ned Flanders family. Why isn't Todd on the list. He is but, he's more developed in my opinion. Rod is somewhat annoying, a coward, and well... sometimes that might not be the best of it. Ever since Maude died, he had to hold the family together when his father was down. Even when he has to do daring things like, saving Bart, he can be a little...what's the word I'm looking for... scared. Conquering his fears and even trying to be a brave person, he isn't really the best of the Flanders Flock.


           9: GIL GUNDERSON- He has a death wish, or there are clones of him, just there are of Moleman. For starters, he loses job after, job, after job. Even one time staying over at the Simpsons place more than he should. I feel sorry for him actually that he's on that list, but he's soooooo pathetic, he had to be on it. At least with Moleman, he's enjoyable and funny. Gil is just a sad excuse for being who he is. It's seems as if there are two of them, or three, or four. He was shot during a robbery attempt, worked at a grocery store and even....well I just feel more sorry for the guy than you think.


8: WISEGUY (AKA RAPHAEL)- Sarcastic comments don't begin to explain why he's on this list. It seems as if he has a wise excuse for everyone he comes into. I don't know why, but I can tell when he's being sarcastic. I mean you can feel, when you talk to this guy, he's putting you down, making you feel bad, and even...well, depressed. He worked, from one store to another. Like a gun shop, or even movie theater. Why is he on this list? He's not seen much, unless the Simpson family walks into a store.


7: THE RICH TEXAN- Why do you have to be such a jackass, and rich at the same time? The reason Mr. Burns isn't on the list, because he's semi-pleasant. For this reason, it's shouting yee-ha and shooting guns in the air. A big oil tycoon, he doesn't like to lose at anything, and I mean anything. He would pistol whip someone for money let alone, try to kill Homer and Moe for cheating on arm wrestling. Ironically voiced by the same guy who voices Homer, I find this character, annoying as hell. And when he's on an episode, no matter what the situation, I start to cringe.


6: COMIC BOOK GUY- Real name is Dan Albertson, the reason he's on here, I'm not a big fan of him. I find having to deal with being a smart ass, fat and obsessed with comics, just some what annoying. The reason he's higher up than five or four, they developed him in later seasons, actually giving him a girlfriend, which doesn't sound bad. He's into Star Trek, Star Wars and even, obsessed with nostalgia. It would give you a brain hemorrhage. He dated Skinner's mom and almost married Mrs. Krabapple before finding true love. I find that ok, although, he can be irritating as well.


5: JEBEDIAH SPRINGFIELD (HANS SPRUNGFELD)- Murderous pirate, or founder of the town? You tell me. Why is he one of the worst? Was it because of him having a double life, almost betraying the town? Not preictally. I find him boring. Yes, he is the founder of Springfield, yes, there are many secrets about him, but I don't find it interesting, not even when Lisa discovered the secret life he had. For me, he's on this list because he's BORRRRRING


4:YES GUY- Have you found a character to just be quoting one word? JC! It's just irritating to the eardrum. Who is he anyway? What's his name? Maybe I remember in an episode, but recently. He isn't seen much as well, only when the Simpsons are in some weird situation they can't get out of, like almost being electrocuted. Homer asked why he talked like that. His response was: "I had a strooooooke!" Somewhat stupid answer if you ask me, and also very rude for them to say that, thinking people with strokes talk like that. Boooo!!

3: MISS HOOVER- Lisa's teacher. Does she have a last name? Oh yes, Elizabeth. Like Jebediah, she has no character development, possibly boring and, I don't like her. Why? Well, she belittles the class, drinks a lot, doesn't give two shits about teaching, there is other reasons as well. In the beginning of the series, she wasn't quite developed into a full blown character. Later seasons, SHE STILL ISN'T. What the chocolate coated hell??? Her hairstyle changed color as well, from blue to brown. It's as if they were doing it on purpose, such ass Smithers being black to yellow.

2: MARTHA QUIMBY- Mayor Quimby's supposed wife, she gets angry when he sleeps with other women, and he STILL is with her. Shouldn't that woman divorced him after the fifth season? It's just like politics. I'm not going into that. She is the wife of Joe Quimby. They both should be on here for all I care, but why not him and only her? Well, the reason is, Mayor Quimby seems to have more development over the years, even if he is sleeping around with other woman, why she does NOTHING about it, not even divorce him, c'mon lady, show some guts and do something about your failing MARRAIGE!


These are bad Springfield citizens I know. I also know it's only a cartoon as well. But who is the WORST ONE???? The reason I'm putting this character on the bottom of Springfield's hell, is my decision alone. You might have yours but...this character is the topping of Springfield's burning tire yard.



THE WORST SPRINGFIELD CHARCTER IS-

1. HELEN LOVEJOY- She is without a doubt, horrible. Yes, I know she is married to Reverend of the church, but I despise her. She is such a bonehead, screaming: WON'T SOMEBODY PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN?? What are you doing? Take some annihilative for your behavior and stop screaming it to the top of your longs. The reason she's also at the bottom is because she gossips about everyone in town, especially about Marge Simpson. I can't figure out why she wasn't killed off, and Maude was. She has been in some episodes, but I don't like her. Maybe the Reverend can do a favor and get her some counseling. As she blames everyone but herself. She even thought Bart stole change out of the collection plate, when HE WAS INNOCENT! I think it's time to get rid of her like they did Maude, although Maude is more pleasant to deal with, half the time. Helen Lovejoy, in my opinion, is HORRIBEL and the worst of the citizens of Springfield.


  Before you know it, this show will come to an end. WHEN THOUGH???? LOL. The Simpsons are funny, but if I had to pick my least favorite Simpson character, it would be Lisa. She is a little annoying.
