Back when I was young, like back in the early 90's, most of the holidays stayed in their own lane. Keeping other holidays not come closer. Sure, when I started getting older, I noticed Halloween candy and some autumn themes coming a bit earlier.... like in the end of August. Now...I start seeing Halloween cards, pumpkin spice themed food and much...much more.
Now, I feel Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas are combining themselves into a giant abomination of one huge holiday that no one wants to celebrate.
I know we don't have many holidays in August and companies feel that we should start autumn sooner than later.
Unless someone has a birthday or Anniversary in August, people feel August is nothing but a blah month. None with holidays to celebrate. For my family, my parents have an anniversary, and my late nana had a birthday at the end of August. That's it.
For others, August is a reminder that summer is about to vanish.
We want heat when it's cold, and we want coldness when it's hot. Always wanting what it's not. It has been one hell of a hot summer and with it near its end, Holidays feel that they should come early and stay till the end of the year.
The pools and beaches will soon close, as schools will soon start. I blinked and it became August. What the hell happened to July? Well....like every year, it goes by. Just like the holidays will.
But August, beginning and end.... will just be another month. A month that gets hot before the cold arrives, and where teachers and students start to worry about the school year to come.
Why does autumn come so soon anymore? I guess it's a tradition some fans that love Halloween. I did when I was a kid, now...it's just a normal day to me. I will still eat the candy and watch horror movies, but the trick-or-treating? Not for me.
With Halloween near...we have to face the fact...Autumn, like winter will come and we will all be shocked when the year ends.
