Do Price is right contestants receive their prizes?

If you don't know what Price is Right is, you're living under a rock. Literally, if you ever were sick with a cold, you would try to feel better by watching people win gifts and prizes. But ever since I watched episode upon episode (during the time I was sick) I always wondered....do the contestants ever truly win their prizes?

With the show running already fifty years now, you expect some people to win over millions of dollars worth of prizes. From fancy cars, to money and much more. But there have been some goofs and bloopers that have caused people to get strange prizes to cheating... yes cheating.

Sometimes the cheatings would be accidents, but other times...some people don't understand what to do. During the Bob Barker PIR era, a young man was about to win...I guess a piano. There was a game called "Flip-Flop" where you flip the prices to reveal the real price. He cheated by pressing a button, getting Bob Barker upset.

A few years ago, one of the models for the show reveiled the winning price for the car a young woman was about to win. I forgot the name of the game, but you have to pick prizes to get a tag with a price of the car. She accidently revealed, and the woman got the car....I think.

A couple years ago, a young handicapped woman in a wheel chair was offered a treadmill as one of her gifts. Umm....there's a problem there. I think I felt sorry for her and how embarrassed she must have been to win that She also got a sauna. Not as embarrassing, but still...did any of the people working backstage wonder, "what if a contestant can't walk, see or hear?" I doubt that.

During both Bob Barker and Drew Carey Era of PIR, contestantas are bat shit insane. How? Well they freak out when they come up on stage as if they saw a movie star. They hug both Bob and Drew (which I hope have restraining orders by now) Some people just come on the stage after being call up. Some will end up slipping and falling....bringing Drew or Bob down with them. How crazy do you have to be??

Now the reason I am blogging this....do they get their prices they won? Well yes and no. You get a bill as well. Paying taxes on your winnings that seems fair, right? I don't know, never been on the show. Some contestants look excited at first, but then...when the cameras on off, the real drama begins. They might won that car, or a check for money they won, but it comes with a hefty price. Paying for it afterwards.

There have been people that seemed right on the nose when it comes to the showcase showdown. Some almost get the right price and win both prizes. The rule is if you get it right by $250 dollars, you win both showcases. Some have done that, but one man...might have been too good. His name was Terry Kinesis (he could have sadly passed away by now.) He guessed the right price in the right way that shocked not only viewers, but Drew Carey as well.

Some people have won big, even over a million dollars in some cases. When I was in high school, and sick with a heart problem, I would watch this show non stop. Now, 50 years later, this show is going strong. Bob Barker made it famous when I was young, and now Drew Carey is the new host. He's good, amazing, talented and funny.

Starting in 1971, and being here fifty years later, it seems this show is going NO WHERE anytime soon. Even famous people have been on the show from Vanna White to Aaron Paul. Now, every clip of this show is a memory in some way. Contestants do win, but they still have to pay for what they won.
