Pringles Mascot- WHAT HAPPENED????

We all love Pringles, and we would remember them mostly from the tube shaped can that provides the 'crisps' for our enjoyment. But there is also the mascot. But...there has seems to have been a change that some people haven't noticed yet. And after reading this, you will see why the mascot is not the same as it used to be.

Created by Proctor and Gamble in the 1960's, people haven't noticed a potato chip in a can. The inventor of this ingenious snack, Frederic Baur, designed the can so none of the chips would break inside. (Although, they do) The mascot was created with it as well. The name Pringles came from a street name in Ohio where Baur used to live.

I remember the early 80's version which made the Pringles man smile more. The rosy cheeks were gone and he had a full head of hair. The mascot would soon change to the mascot we knew long around the 90's. Frank Baur retired and Proctor and Gamble took over the operation of  Pringles as well as the mascot changing.

There were two versions of this new Pringle man that came around mid to the end of the 90's. One that had a red background around him, and one without. I remember both. This Pringles mascot pushed his hair up, added  a bow tie as well as pupils in its eyes. More expressive.

Now....starting last year, we got...

THIS!  No round face, no hair; just eyes, a mustache and hair! WHAT THE HELL! The first time I saw this, I was just surprised. It seems this is just a floating mustache with eyes and a bow tie. I don't understand, but then again, mascots can change over time.

From the way they look, to the way they present what they are selling. From chips, to cleaning toilets as well as selling real estate. Things change. Some good, and in this case, bad.

We've had some horrible mascots before. Like Arby's with that talking oven mitt. The horrendous Squid Monkeys from somebody's fever dream to promote sandwiches at Quiznos. At least this new Pringles Mascot isn't that bad. They even changed the chuck-e-cheese mascot to a small little rat.

Change will happen in product mascots. We sometimes have to accept it. But it will be a long time for us to accept this. At least people are still buying Pringles and not all the cans have that horrid looking mascot on it. They have the other version as well.

Worst tv sitcoms ever made

Some tv shows last a lifetime, never ending while others...aren't even known. But, they were created. They might have lasted only one season, or even just one episode. They are considered the worst sitcoms ever seen, and here are a few.

If you ever wanna combined "National Lampoon Animal House" with a show called "Head of the Class", you would get this short lived show called Co-Ed Fever. Sadly, it never got passed one episode. What went wrong? Well, I have no idea, but the premise of the show was about an all girl college campus. The actors were ok, but I guess it didn't have enough viewers to stay on more than one episode. Does it make it one of the worst? Not really, but it did have a good idea, but I think it was better suited as a movie.

Ever seen shows like "Hill Street Blues" or "NYPD Blue", well the creator of those shows created another show called "public morals" For this show, they tried to make it more comedic than dramatic. That was it's flaw. Suffering from bad ratings after one episode, the plug was pulled. The creator seemed to think of this show like another failed show called Cop Rocks, where that was more about singing cops stopping crime. This one was just more not right for tv.

With the success of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles back in the 80's, in 1992, they decided to create a show called Battletoads. It didn't last. I guess not many people were into battle fighting toads like they would be with turtles. They only lasted one episode, and vanished into the unknown. They were popular more for the comics and video game. But for the tv show, it failed. It wasn't the worst, but it wasn't worth seeing.

Emily's reason's why not. Well, lasted one episode and why? It started airing in the midseason, which some shows do, and isn't considered a good idea for their reputation. Plus Heather Graham is not one of the most liked people. The show is about her character doing well...not smart ideas. Why did it only last one episode? Well, a few episodes were aired, but it seemed the plug on the show was pulled before the others would air. This show, to me, is a pretty bad show

If you loved "Monty Python's flying circus", you would NOT love this short lived show that was pulled off the air during the middle of it's first episode. "The Melting Pot" was created for British Television. It was well, pretty trippy and the show wasn't that enjoyable for any audience. It would criticize racial comedy as well as being crude. It isn't worth seeing, and there are no episodes ever seen. It is lost in the past.

When Dancing With the Stars was getting popular on ABC, another show featuring celebrities was created called Secret talents of the stars. However, it only lasted one episode. While Dancing with the stars went down with each episode, this show didn't have a chance. We never found out who would win as we only got one episode. Never saw it, but wondered who would have won.

What is "The Will" about, and why did it only last two episodes? It's about a bunch of wannabe people that will soon inherit an old man's money. I don't know if it was a game show or some sort of sick drama where people compete against each other for the money they would have if they won. An old man soon dies and in his will, le leaves some money to whoever wins a game. I wouldn't know, but it only lasted an episode

If you ever loved the movie "Uncle Buck", you should stay far away from this one. It seems that old movies are trying to come back or be rebooted. This version of "Uncle Buck" was a short lived tv show that lasted one season. Mike Epps portrays Uncle Buck, and this is nothing like the 1980 hit movie. If I were you, stay FARRRRRRRRRRRRR away from this. At least they had the decency to pull the plug on this show before another season was made. This show should never have happened.

I guess some shows never get a chance while others well....shouldn't have been made. For this, we don't know if they were success or failures, but now we know, they weren't meant to be created or were lost in the dust, and for that reason we are grateful that somebody has a creative mind to make a show, even if it ended up being a failure.

Swear words (the history behind them)

We all swear. But some of us like to know....how they were started and how they became what they are today. Swear words.

On Netflix, there is a show called "The history of swear words"

He explains to us how these words were well...started. How it became what it was before to something dirty and vulger. Here are a few. (WORD OF ADVICE, THERE WILL BE SOME CURSING)

The king of all swears. The mother of dirty words. If you use the middle finger high up in the air, you've used this word. I won't say it, but we all know it. How did this word, this mother of all swear words start?

It was shortened version back in the day that meant Fornication Under the Consent of the King. Yep that's the word. It was shortened years later, but how did it become what it is now? Well, it did originate for a sexual reference. Only with the king's consent.

Sometimes it can be a name that's short for Richard. But other times....well, you know what a man has...right? Dick means that. How did Dick Head become a swear? It was described to be known as someone that was considered unfair or even or unjust. Other times, it's just a joke. But I feel sorry for anyone name Richard that shortened his name to Dick.

We all do it. It's another way to say poop. But, why is it a swear and how did it become one? Well, it was used back in the Scandinavia in the olden countries. They used it to described Cattle defalcation. Even some streets and towns around Scandinavia had the word shit in it

I guess after it was  classified as a swear, they changed the names of the town. But everyone of us does it every day. How and why it became a swear, well....shit god only knows.

Bastard: well, some people are considered one. The origin of this swear started as some that was used as a noun to describe someone that would give you an unpleasant experience. It was also considered a law of England and Wails that described a child that was born to an unmarried mother.

That term would be considered a Bastard Child. Bastard is considered a swear for anyone who acts likes an idiot on purpose as well. To me, they're bastards. Some people have written a book on how to be a complete bastard.

It was a term used to describe a female dog. They would be known as a bitch. But why is it now considered a swear, and when did that start?

Well, it started around the fifteenth  century as a vulgar term. It was considered a sexual behavior at the time. But why now from dog to woman? Back in those days it was referred as sexual behavior. Around the 1920s it was used again in a vulgar term against a woman. No woman likes to be called a bitch.

,

Some people can be a dumbass or an asshole. Where did these terms originate which involves our butts?

Asshole- That term was a meaning of "backside" or "buttocks" How it became what it is today, it appears to have always been used back in the day which meant our butt. But, how it became vulgar, meaning incomplete or unpleasant. It would also be considered a greater moral, social or importance to a male

Dumbass- If you ever watch "That 70's show", the father of that show would call his son (played by Topher Grace) a dumbass in almost every episode. But, how did this swear get started? It just means being an idiot. Another term for a fool. Even if donkeys are considered Jackasses, they would sometimes use a picture of one to symbolize how stupid the person is.

Short for Damnation, Damn has become known for what it is today. As the phrase, "you're damned if you do and your damned if you don't." meaning that you might end up in holy damnation, or be saved by the lord. I don't know.

Some people don't want to use the lord's name in vain, but when they say "goddamn", they do. It could also be considered a punishment or fate when they are "condemned to hell" It could also be used for annoyance or angry about something going wrong.

So, why do we swear, because it feels good to let something out when we're angry? Will it make us feel better? Some people think swearing is bad, while others feel it's the need to get out any stress. Some others think swearing is a sign of intelligence. I'm not sure on that one. I swear a lot. Sometimes, I swear to myself. It makes me feel somewhat better, but for now, try to keep your swearing to a minimum, or you might get in trouble. Damn.

Milton Bradley vs Parker Brothers

There's always a battle going on. First, it was soda wars, then pizza chain wars as well as Burger King vs McDonalds.

Now, we have something that is not food related, but board game related.

Milton Bradley vs the Parker Brothers.

Not many people knew the backstory of these board game creators. Only that they were known to bring fun into people's lives, even during times of sadness.

He would create a checkered version of the game of life, which was also a Milton Bradley game. His first one was called Life

The game of Life was considered a popular game back then. There are different versions of it all the time. The object of the game was to go through a whole life from college, to marriage and family. Some people would lose turns as others well...lose. I don't think I've ever played this before.

Other games created by Milton Bradley were:

     * Operation- a game where you remove pieces for whatever is inside Cavity Sam. This game would teach you motor skills and if you touch the sides....butterfingers. You would get zapped.

    * Taboo- Considered a word guessing game where you can't say certain words and act out for your team using other examples

*Mystery date- an old classic game where you find out who will be the date to a prom. You can get a handsome guy, or the nerd.

*Perfection- A game where you would put pieces into a slot before the timer went off. I hated this game when I was a kid, because the timer would make a buzzing sound and it would freak me out.

I remember some of the Milton Bradley games I used to play when I was young like Jenga, Mouse Trap and many more. But there was another company that made their versions. Who were they?

Brothers George, Edward and Charles Parker were three brothers that started their own gaming company around the 1880's. George and Charles made the games more familiar to their brother Edward, as well as a few children back then.

One of their unknown games was Klondike which was a game version of the gold rush and War in Cuba which was another game version of the Spanish-Civil war.

Their first game that is known today was....

MONOPOLY. One of the most known games in all of Parker Brother's games. The creators were Charles Darow and Lizzie Magie. Sadly, Lizzie didn't get much credit since she was a woman at the time, and back in those days...well woman never would be able to get credit on their achievements

She was the one that would illustrate the game and made board what is famous today.

The first board of Monopoly was more in a circle, before it became the famous square we know today. There are many different versions coming out of Monopoly. Like: Monopoly: Cheaters edition. Monopoly: for Millennials. Monopoly Jr. Simpsons Monopoly, Sesame Street Monopoly. Ghostbusters, Bob Ross, Family Guy, Fortnite. You name it.

Every Monopoly known has been changed. The most popular one....is the original.

Risk was another game which can get addicting. It's about a battle and you are one of the few to defend your land from others. There's also a CD Rom version as well.

    Other Parker Brother games are:

*Scrabble- a game with connecting letters to form words and get points.

*Ouiji- This game seemed haunted to a few people, but a few use a board with a game piece that shows, after moving it around, it shows the answers. Some people swear they aren't even moving the piece. For me, I don't think I've ever played this.

*Bonkers- A dice game where you have to roll a certain number to get to a certain piece. It's a confusing game, and not known much than back in the 80's

In 1991, the company Hasbro has bought both Milton Bradley and Parker Brothers. Now these board game companies are no longer in competition with each other. Hasbro is now the soul provider of all the games from Monopoly to Mouse trap. But we'll always remember the games and their humble beginnings

90's songs that were popular

Do you remember any hit songs today? I don't, but back in the 90's they were pretty memorable. Some of them by singers and bands that either broke up, or aren't heard of much today. Here are a few memorable songs that I remember from my youth.

'

A song called Wonderwall by a band of two brothers in Oasis. What happened to them, and why is Wonderwall the only song we know? It seems the brothers could never get along. Wonderwall was considered a very memorable song. Oasis had Beatles style hair cuts, and they were a band from Europe. It seemed they were the Beatles of the 90's, but sadly, that would never happen.

Another band with a one hot wonder was named Semisonic. They're only known hit, Closing time, was considered a popular song. It would play over in my head when I was in junior high. Why did this band not go on? Well, they still are around, but they haven't had a huge hit like they did with "Closing time"

Grunge rock was all the rage in the early 1990's, especially around Settle where it originated. A band called Nirvana, with the late Kurt Cobain, created a song called Smells like teen spirit. This song was the most heard song back in the early 90's. I was only seven, maybe eight when it came out. Kurt committed suicide, and with it Grunge rock seemed to die as well. David Grogh, who was with Nirvana, created his own band Foo Fighters, and they still going strong.

Pop singers started to rise in the nineties, as well as one hit wonders. One of them being Edwin McCain. His only song I'll Be was all he was known for. He still is active today, and has tried different songs, but none of them would ever reach cult status as I'll be would.

Boy bands were everywhere in the nineties. Mostly starting with New Kids on the Block. It grew from there. There were other bands that were somewhat known, but not really. Boy bands like Soul Decision, 5ive, BBMack, Dreamstreat and many more.

Two boybands are known to be the kings of  90's boybands. After New Kids on the block left, N*Sync was another boy band having a young Justin Timberlake. They came out with their first album in the late 90's with songs like Tearin' up my heart, I drive myself crazy and many more. Justin went on his own and because a huge star. The other four, I guess disappeared (except for Joey Fatone who has a career too)

N*Sync was ok, but I fell in love with another boyband that went by the name of Backstreet Boys. For some reason, there songs seemed to be better. They would one up N*Sync in anyway possible. And they are still together to this day. Their first hit was, Quit playing games with my heart. AJ, Nick, Brian, Kevin and Howie would be considered the fabulous five. My friends and I would know everything about them. Kevin left the band for a while to start a family. He's back now.

Another band from England had a female band called Spice Girls. Their first hit was If you wanna be my lover. That was one ear worm you can never get out of your own head if you even tried. They good an ok band. Not many of their songs were known outside the UK, but after Ginger Spice left, the band departed. I think they might be reuniting in the future. Not sure though.

Rap was another mainstream of 90's music. However, there seemed to be negativity when it came to rap. Ice Cube was in trouble with one of his songs, forget which one though. DMX got in trouble with one of theirs. Soon another rapper would emerge with Slim Shady. His name was Eminem.

Sadly, we also had rap violence which caused the death of Tupac and B.I.G. The killer was never found.

Rap is still around today, but not as memorable as it used to be when I was young. I don't know half of the singers names. They got their influence from the rappers of the past, as well their own lives. Not a fan of the genera, but to me, even if they use profanity I feel that rap is a form of poetry that expresses the rapper's life.

Sir-Mix-Alot was one of the few rappers who hated his own song. Baby got back when it came out in the early 90's. He never wants to hear that song again. He's still around today, but he never, in his life wants to even hear that song ever again. I don't blame him. I don't like the song either.

Most songs aren't known today, but in the 90's (as well as the 80's) are burned into our mind and never forgotten. Songs like: *Vogue *My heart will go on *The Boy is mine *Can't touch this *Mmmmbop *Creep *Don't speak *Torn *I swear. And many many more.

Thank god for Pandora, and other music websites, we can enjoy the music that brought us to our childhood and much more. Never forget the songs of the 90's, and how memorable, and irritating they could be at the same time.
