It's true. I'm blogging about Barbie. Why? Because I saw a recent episode of the Simpsons where Lisa got a talking doll which got her to thinking it is not what it appears to be.
It was a Malibu Stacey doll and all it would say is:
"Let's put make up on for the boys"
"My name is Stacey but you can call me [whistles]" and so on and so forth.
It reminded me of the Barbie dolls I had when I was young.
I don't know if I had a talking one but I know I had one that did had gymnastic moves and another that had long hair and when you cut it, you attach another piece of hair to it.
It was weird.
I had a lot of Barbie dolls. I vaguely remember many of them.
Lisa hated this particular Malibu Stacey because of what it was saying and wanted to change it. Kathleen Turner voiced the women who created the dolls and they make another that they named Lisa Lionheart and well, the people who run the Malibu Stacey productions wanted to destroy, by any means necessary, the production and what do they do.
Give Malibu Stacey a hat. At least someone got a Lisa Lionheart doll at the end.
And with Barbie being in production for a long time, it seems she never ages, but they have changed the look of the dolls to make them more realistic. They made the chest wider and they have them in different stiles and different cultures and heritages. One can be African American, another can be Irish looking. It's all in the doll. But the talking Barbie's came out in the early 90's just like that episode of the Simpsons with the talking Malibu Stacey's and it very equally matched in every way down to what the doll says.
Now it is very different. If Malibu Stacey was talking again, it would be just what Lisa have wanted. Believe me. Now a days, it is different than it was in the early 90s.
And the Malibu dolls would have different body shapes as well, and look a lot like the Barbies of today.

father's day
I love my father very much, but then again I think of a lot of other fathers.
Real and fictional.
They're always going to be there for us in good times and bad, and always will be there when we need them the most.
I always think of Homer Simpson as the father who is also like a child as well. Other cartoon fathers could never measure up to his stupidity and yet his wife, Marge, can still stand him and stay with him.
Other TV dads like: the late James Avery portraying Uncle Phil can be strict and stern, but then again, is always there for his nephew in good times and bad, especially when Will's estranged father abandons him once again.
Sometimes it's hard to understand what is to be a father and watching episode upon episode of big bang theory when Sam Helburg's character Howard's father abandoned him and his mother and ironically Sam's father is also an actor (I've read that they will be casting someone to play Howard's father in the final season)
Another great TV father would also be, Al Bundy played by Ed O'Neal. I loved seeing him be rude to his wife and just be a typical father who would work at a woman's shoe store and make cat calls at sexy women and go back to a wife he isn't fond of and scared of having sex with. Loved the show and now Ed O'Neal is on a show called "Modern Family" who he now plays a father (or should I say step-father)
I think a man becomes a father once he see's his child for the first time.
When my dad saw my face, he knew he was father and was happy ever since.
I miss my grandfathers and I think about them almost every day, and most of all around the holidays. My grandfather and pop-pop were very special to me but I vaguely remember them because they died when I was young. I still think about them every day of my life.
Happy Father's day to every father, real or fictional and very special happy father's day to my father.

POEM
When Will the hurting stop
When will it all go away
When will all of us realize bullets aren't the answer
tears aren't the solution
Sadness won't always helping us
when another slain person
because they are
a different race
a different color
a different religion
it doesn't mean
hate has to come
and destroy us all
We cry for everyone
every day
every week
and every time we pray
that we aren't the ones
that have the targets on our backs
The 50 souls in Orlando
didn't get a chance to breath
and now wings and heaven.
Why gone?
Because of who they were
and a monster had to come
and take their lives away.
And we grieve for them
and everyone else we grieve for
Pray for
and hope for a better tomorrow
and now we are going to say goodbye
for the ones that didn't make it
and pray for the rest clinging to life.
We cringing tonight and we will always be crying
and praying for a safe and happier tomorrow
But love will always conquer us all
in times to sadness
and weakness
Love will be there for us all
But love will always conquer us all
in times to sadness
and weakness
Love will be there for us all

biting the apple
Ever wonder about the effect things or events will happen just by stepping on a butterfly might change the course of events.
Well how about biting an apple?
We all know what happens when Eve bit into one. All of us females pay the price every month four to five days. I'm not going any further with that.
But what about the movie Pleasantville?
It takes place in a fictional world that feels more like "Leave it to Beaver" or that Dick Clark show
Well it all starts out when two normal kids enter their black and white world and let's say they want to make it there own.
But my huge question is....
When did it all turn to color
Is it when Tobey McGuire's character bit the apple in one scene:
Or when Resse Witherspoon's character decided to "make whoopee" to the late Paul Walker's character *who was in Pleasantville to begin with* and afterword's saw a pink rose:
It could have many chains that started it, even though it looked like the rose was the first, but when Tobey bit into the apple, more colors seemed to appear in the dreary colorless show.
And Don Knott's was not happy since he was the one that brought them both into it.
But it brings me back to my next point does biting an apple cause a chain of events like Eve giving a curse to all women or Tobey McGuire bringing color to a colorless world?
Should we stop eating apples because of it.
I mean Snow White took one bite of an apple and BOOM out like a light, It took a kiss of a prince to wake her up.

But that was a Fairy Tale, was it?
What kind of apple was she eating. Isn't there something saying: "An apple a day keeps the doctor away"
These apples don't seem promising. One causes women to go crazy, one to bring color to a fictional world and another to kill a princess that's sleeping with seven dwarfs.
I use to love apples!!!!
I'll still eat them but maybe I'll try some more fruit as well. Till then, beware of what can happen when you bit into the food you love, no matter what it is.
