Best Twilight Zone episodes

Everyone remembers the old tv show called the Twilight Zone. A show where they create stories that have a twist ending. Some interesting, and some creepy. I have six episodes that I wanna talk about. And how they are considered one of the best, and believe me, even their twist endings will surprise you.

   1. Time Enough at last- This story is about a man who is considered a bookworm. Played by Burgess Meredith, this man would read instead of focusing at work or even paying attention to his wife. Suddenly, a nuclear bomb goes off while he reads in the bank vault. He is the only survivor in the world. First, he is depressed, wondering if he could find another survivor. Before he would kill himself, he finds a library. He is happy as a clam when he gets book, after book, after book. However, with him wearing glasses, they break when he tries to pick up a book. And well...that was that. "He had all the time in the world".

I love this episode. One of my favorites. It's all considered one of the best and most watched Twilight Zone episode ever.

2. The monsters are due on maple street- This story is about a street that has a bunch of neighbors, and chaos erupts. How? People start to blame others when lights start to flicker. Fearing that it could be an alien invasion, many people fear for their lives. Afraid of their own neighbors. Their power keeps going on and off, making their lawn mowers, and even lights to stop working. Near the end, one person decides to call for help. When he return, he is shot and killed by another neighbor fearing he was an alien. In the end, the screen pans out of the neighborhood to two aliens who are the ones controlling their street for their own amusement.

I like this one, not as much as the first, but it did make us fear our own neighbors as well as our own neighborhood. Do you think it will ever happen, or is it just some crazy idea a writer came up with? I don't know.

3. A nice place to visit- A bank robber is shot by an officer, and when he wakes up, he sees a man that takes him somewhere. Wondering if he is dead, he soon finds himself in paradise. What do I mean? Well, in a nearby place, he sees a casino game where he always wins, meets lovely ladies, gets every food he loves. The bank robber feels the man took him to heaven. Soon, he starts to dislike it. Winning all the time, getting board of the same woman who love him. He tells his so called Guardian angel that he wants to go to the other place. He soon gets a shock after his so-called Guardian angel that "this is the other place!"

Is frightening at the end, but I knew where he really was. This was an ok episode. Only two people are in it (not counting the women). I would watch this one over and over.

   4. Will the real Martin please stand up- It seems, in a diner, a bus breaks down. State troopers find a UFO and fears somebody that was on the bus could be the real martin. They ask everyone questions. Two married couples, an old man, a drunk, the bus driver. People start judging one another. Fearing for their lives, they think it's best not to go anywhere since the bridge might fall. Near the end, they get a call saying the bridge is ok, and the snow as clear. However, the old man is the only one that returns to the diner, explaining to the owner how he was the martin. The tables are turned though when the owner takes off his cap and reveals a third eye. There was more than one martin in that diner.

I loved this episode, and having the owner reveal a third eye is considered one of the most seen moments of the Twilight Zone series. I even did a rewrite of that episode. It's pretty good.

   5. To serve man- One of the most famous Twilight zone episodes ever. Why? Well, the ending of course. A man and woman (I don't think married) see two tall men that come out of a UFO. They are considered friendly at first. They even have a book called: "To serve man" Not knowing what it is, the man is skeptical is first. The two tall men (one who played a villan in the James Bond Movies) let a few people aboard their ship. The man decides to be one of those people. Before boarding, the woman comes out shouting: "TO SERVE MAN! IT'S A COOKBOOK!" Well, it seems the man will be on the menu with a few other victims as well.

Seeing this the first time, I didn't know what to expect. But seeing the ending, I wasn't surprised at all. I mean, you have strange man from another coming planet coming to earth to find 'food'.

   6. Nightmare at 20,000 Feet- William Shatner stars as a man who had a nervous breakdown. Going back on a plane with his wife, he tries to stay calm, but seeing  Gremlin on the plane starts to freak him out. He tells his wife, the stewardess and even the flight crew that he sees a small man on the side of the plane. They don't see anything. William Shatner's character fears the gremlin is destroying the plane. He decides to take matters into his own hands by using a flair to get rid of the Gremlin, only when he opens the window, he causes everyone to panic. He ends up being sent into an institution in the end.

In my opinion, best one. I loved it from beginning to end. It did frighten me a little the first time I saw it, and I feel this episode is the most parodied one. Being parodied on the Simpsons to Jonny Bravo. Worth the watch, just don't have a fear of planes.

Yes Twilight Zone has changed since the 1950's one ended. They did anew one recently for CBS All access streaming site, but it didn't work. I prefer the original to any other reincarnated ones they did for newer audiences.

I also loved Rod Sterling and his adventures of bringing us "The Twilight Zone"
