Well for Goth-
It started many years ago when the time of the 3rd century Roman Empire. Although that was totally different, it would have a Gothic War that started in the year 370. But thousands of years later, goth becomes something dark. Wearing mostly black clothing, having your hair and makeup become dark. Feeling that world is nothing but a total wasteland. Feeling that life is nothing but pain, but that's not true.
Being Goth doesn't mean you have to be dark and dreay, it just shows a different style that people don't understand. Am I goth, no but I do enjoy the punk and gothic style you find in music. (which I will get to soon)
Emos are somewhat different from Goth. It came known around the 1980s. Actually it became popular the year I was born. If you are Emo, it might have both a similarity and a difference. But with being Emo, they feel more pain and think their life is nothing but meaningless. Wanting to kill themselves. Emo has a style all their own. Being not as dark and bruiting as goth. They have their own style of music as well. Not all Emos are suicidals, but they are more emotional.
Punk style is a style of its own. Coming around the 1980s when punk music groups started to become popular. They would gel up their hair, style themselves in ridiculous ways, show more tattoos and piercings and well, their hair. They would moouse it up or put it in a mohawk. The style was pretty out there, but there were different kinds of punk bands that you can listen too. Punks became pretty popular when MTV started to appear, but when MTV stopped playing music, the punk phase died down and you don't see many people dressing punk anymore.
With Goths and Emos, they have their style of music some you might never have heard of. With Emos, they have:
*Fall out boy
* Panic at the disco!
* Paramore
*Plain White T's and many more.
I like some of those bands. I have heard of them. Most of these bands sound similar to one another, but they are actually not too bad.
With Goth, they have their own style mostly Gothic metal which I really do like. I guess when I was young, almost in my twenties, I started going through phase. Wasn't a huge one, but the bands are really good. With Goth, you have:
*Delain
* Within Temptation
* Leaves Eyes
* Epica and much more. I've heard of all those bands, and I have their music.
I guess, in a way, I am both Gothic and Emo, but I don't processes their traits unless you could count their music
For both Goths and the Emos, their are their traits, strengths and weaknesses. Even some authors were claimed to be Gothic and had tortured lives.
Till then, even Punk is gone, I don't think Emo and Goth are going anywhere anytime soon
