Almost seventy years ago, this stuff happened, and it's also the beginning of the lyrics to a Billy Joel song called: "We didn't start the fire"- which came out around 1989, in other words forty years ago then.
Why does it start then??? Well, Billy Joel was born May 9th 1949.

I guess all this stuff was importance back in 1950 like Television becoming a widespread sensation during 1950 while Marylin Monroe was famous for her movie roles.
1951: Rosenburgs, H-Bomb, Sugar Ray (Robinson), Panmunjom, (Marlin) Brando, King and I, and The Catcher in the Rye
The Rosenburgs were arrested for their crimes and sentence to death while The Catcher in the Rye was a very popular, yet controversial book.
1952: (Dwight) Eisenhower, Vaccine, England's got a new Queen, (Rocky) Marciano, Libarache, Santayana Goodbye
George Santayana passed away that year in September, while Queen Elizabeth was the Queen of England and still is today, becoming the longest Monarch to this date. God bless her.
1953: Joseph Stalin, (Gregory) Malenkov, (Abdel) Nasser, (Sergei) Prokofiev, (Winthrop) Rockefeller, (Roy) Campanella, Commonest Bloc
Both Stalin and Prokofiev died on March 5th of that year and the Commonest Bloc had to deal with the uprising of East Germany
1954: Roy Cohn, Juan Peron, (Arturo) Toscanini, Dacron, Dien Ben Phi Falls, Rock around the clock
Dacron was a type of fabric that was popular around this time before polyester was the new wave while "Rock around the clock" was an Elvis Presley song popular in 1954
1955: (Albert) Einstein, James Dean, Brooklyn had a winning team, Davy Crockett, Peter Pan, Elvis Presley, Disneyland
Einstein passes away on April 18th while Disneyland becomes the first known theme park opening its doors in 1955
1956: (Bridgette) Bardot, Budapest, Alabama, (Nikita) Khrushchev, Princess Grace, Payton Place, Trouble in the Suez
Princess Graces marries the Prince of Monaco after filming her last movie while Rosa Parks started a Bus Boycott that started a movement for people of different color (what a pioneer)
1957: Little Rock, (Boris) Pasternak, Mickey Mantle, (Jack) Kerouac, Sputnik, Zhou Enlai, Bridge on the river Quai
Sputnik took America by storm, starting the space program and getting men into the space while Mickey Mantle was in the middle of the his career with the Yankees
1958: Lebanon, Charles de Gaulle, California Baseball, Starkweather Homicide, Children of thalidomide
Baseball comes to California as the Brooklyn Dodgers become the LA Dodgers and the homicide of Starkweather caused the deaths of eleven people in Nebraska
1959: Buddy Holly, Ben Hur, Space Monkey, Mafia, Hula Hoops, (Fidel) Castro, Edsel is a no go
Edsel was a style of car that never even went into production and was stop being made in 1959 while Ben Hur was a movie staring Charlton Heston
Then came the 60's:
1960: U-2, Syngman Rhee, Payola, (John F) Kennedy, Chubby Checker, Psycho, Belgians in the Congo
Kennedy was the President of the US while Chubby Checker started people dancing to the twist
1961: (Ernest) Hemingway, (Adolf) Eichmann, Strangers in a strange land, (Bob) Dylan, Berlin, Bay of Pigs invasion
Hemmingway killed himself while Dylan signed on to Columbia records and became famous
1962: Lawrence of Arabia, British Beatlemania, Ole Miss, John Glenn, Litson beats Patterson
Lawrence of Arabia became a movie starring Peter O'Toole while the Beatles came to America and became a sensation making people go crazy for them
1963: Pope Paul, Malcom X, British Politician sex, JFK Blown away (WHAT ELSE DO I HAVE TO SAY)
John F. Kennedy was killed November 22nd 1963 while Malcom X makes his infamous statement "the chickens has come home to roost"
1965 to 1969: Birth Control, Ho Chi mon, Richard Nixon back again, Moonshot, Woodstock
Men landed on the moon while Woodstock was famous fifty years ago while Richard Nixon, well he got in trouble
Watergate, Punk Rock, (Menachem) Begin, (Ronald) Regan, Palenstin, Terror on the air line 1972 to 1977:
Watergate sandal forces Nixon to resign an Regan becomes president
1979 to 1989: Wheel a Fortune, Sally Ride, Heavy Metal Suicide, Foreign Debs, Homeless Vets, Aids, Crack, Bernie Guetz, Hyperdermics on the shore, Martials Law, Cola Wars (WE CAN'T TAKE THIS ANYMORE)
Aids causes the deaths of many people, Sally Ride was the first female astronaut that went to space, Bernie Guetz killed a few people and the cola wars was choice between coke and Pepsi.
