Ever heard of someone named Richard Simmons? Back in the 80's everyone has heard of him. He was considered a fitness guru of sorts. He would try to get everyone to buy his video tapes, cassettes and other stuff that was about him and his exercise routines. But there was something about him that...shook me about him.
I was really little when he was popular. He started out in the seventies with his exercise routines. They became popular and so did he. He would always say he was a chubby kid and wanted to change his look to feel better about himself. That's good for him to have self-control, but did he really?
Around the 90's, Richard Simmons was still around, but his exercise routines were limited to almost at the point of non-exciting. He soon decided to be on tv shows like David Letterman and even guest starred on an episode of "Who's line is it anyway." He was still around, but I could tell he was going to fall off the face of the earth before the 2000's. I was right. Around that time, he was no longer being seen, his videos weren't being bought. It was like, he came and left in a flash of light.
He was seen again around 2005 when Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans. He was mostly visiting victims of the hurricane that survived but lost loved ones or even their homes or both. He, along with a few other celebrities, went out and helped the survivors of the devastating hurricane. He was there to help out, and that was the last time he was seen in the public eye.
By 2014, no one had seen or heard from Richard Simmons since. Some people thought he died or dropped off the face of the earth. Some people wondered if he was ok. He would always tell us to take care of ourselves because he loved us, but did he love himself?
A couple of years went by, then.... around the time of the pandemic, he reappeared breaking his silence of why he vanished off the face of television. It seems he didn't want to be seen on TV anymore. People stopped buying his tapes since most of the world no longer owns a VCR. Richard Simmons came out to the public apologizing for his long absence.
Now.... horrible actor, Pauley Shore, wants to make a film about Richard Simmons life with him portraying Richard Simmons. I don't know how I feel about that. First off, I'm not a fan of either Pauley Shore or Richard Simmons, so I won't see the movie, but I don't think Richard Simons is happy about that either. He's talked about how disgusted he is having Pauley Shore portray his life. A life that he lived through.
Richard Simmons is now back on TV, but he's no longer making any videos of his exercise and health. He does tell people to take care of themselves Physically and Mentally. Sadly, he now has skin cancer. How bad is it? Well, no Cancer is good, but it hasn't been told how aggressive his cancer is. He might have another year to live.
Richard Simmons is still here, and a lot of people are happy that he's ok. Now sick, he tries to wish that everyone is safe, happy and healthy. I guess I'm happy he's ok. Wish Pauley Shore wasn't going to make a movie about his life. It isn't needed, and I don't think many people will want that. Now you know who he was and that he is still here. He just doesn't want to be seen by the public now as much as he did back in the 70's and 80's.
